Default What a difference a week makes.

Well, technically a week and some new tires.

R/T: .218
60': 2.021
330: 5.805
1/8: 8.893
MPH: 79.66
1000: 11.510
1/4: 13.722
MPH: 102.78

Still at Capitol.

I think it can do 13.5. I still gotta work on the launch, and my shift points. I had another run where my 1/8 mile trap speed was a little higher so that gives me a little hope.

I got pissed and left.........good meeting you though. I don't know what is going on with it......on the way home i did my best to get it too slip and it just gripped. Still had my best 1/8et and 60' to date. It was great weather, but there were a ton of cars there getting ready for next weekends events. I managed to drop .11 off my 1/8 even with the badly slipping clutch (or rim spinning inside the tire) at 3-3.5 mph below the previous 1/8 pace.

What did the ultima gtr run?

I stayed awhile, didn't see the GTR though. I was trying to stay and get one more run in, but I was supposed to be meeting my girl at 8 (and I kinda left at 8 hah).

There were a couple of cars that did 4-5 second passes though. And I did learn never to stand behind cars while doing a burn out or you will get hit by flying rocks. Or maybe that's only at Capitol. lol

Not a gtr...........the ultima gtr. It was blue. My guess is it went at least mid 10's on street tires. Those 4-5 second passes were the ops cars......they only run the 1/8th. You flung a couple rocks off of me when he pulled me up to early and I was behind you for your burnout......no biggie though. My car isn't a show car......battle scars add character lol. Man, I was so disappointed though.....my car ran so strong the previous few days and on the way home, but as soon as I hit third the rpms would go straight to 6300 and just stay there......Then when I hit 4th the same thing. It has done it at the track before but usually after hot lapping like 4-5 times. It was every pass this time. I seriously did everything on the way home to try to get it to slip again and it never even showed a hint of it. If the clutch hadn't slipped I think I could have gone 8.39 (ran 8.483) in the 1/8 and a 13.05-13.10 in the 1/4. My pb (13.32) was an 8.58 in the 1/8.

P.S. add your time to the top 25 thread.

Good runs. Hey 03threefiftyZ my car does the samething. On the street nothing but at the track, clutch slip all day. How are you launching? I noticed my car only does it when I slip the clutch on the launch.

Ohh yeah, that car. I saw it when it was going through tech on the other side of the track. Yeah, it didn't do any passes while I was there. I stayed around for about another half hour after my last run, but they were seriously taking a long time moving cars.

It seemed like for every run there was a five minute break while they cleaned up the track. I don't know if it was the cars, or just the track that was messed up.

Good show. Increment improvements of 1/10 seconds may seem trivial, but they add up. It takes lots of seat time to squeeze the best out of the car.

Depends on track prep........yesterday I was launching at 5300-5400. Pulled a 1.879, which is my best to date. I think it has a 1.80 in it with a long burnout and good track prep. I am about 60% sure the slip is because the tire is spinning in the rim.

No I didn't....I have been having some other drivetrain issues. I was just trying to get them situated for next weekend, but I fear I made things worse. If I get the other things worked out, I will give it a shot, but I might have to shut it down for the season.....we'll see.

My hope is that somehow the D/R has broken loose and is spinning inside the wheel. It started about 4 weeks ago when I let the car sit for about 2 hours and the temps dropped ~15 degrees (along with losing 3-4psi from being hot). I had them at ~16 before, but they dropped to 9-10 before I had a chance to realize it and I was stuck in line. It did the exact thing it does now. I put more air in and it was fine on the next run. Then two weeks ago it would do it if I hotlapped 3-4 times, but if I let it sit for 30 mins before each run it was fine. Last Fri it did it every pass. I really hope it isn't the clutch......I just spent 1250+install on an OS Giken and it only has 80-100 passes on it and 3-4k miles (put it in late June).

It was such a tease because conditions were ideal.......55 with a 5-10mph tail wind. Even with the clutch not grabbing at all the car ran 13.50 at 102. It literally feels like the car wasn't accelerating......I don't think it was out of the realm of possibility that the car would have gone 107.5-108mph. Oh well.

What is it doing, is it free revving out of the hole or mid track (3rd-4th)? 107-108 is almost mid-high 12's

Grabs hard out of the hole.....best of the day was 1.879 ( would like to get down to 1.79-1.81), grabs hard as I hit second. Once I go into third the rpms jump immediatly to 6300 and stay there regardless of speed. Same in 4th. On two of the three passes I completely let off and when I went full throttle in third again after letting off it just jumped back to 6300. I tried as best I could to get it to do it on the way home and never even a sign of it. I might run it again next weekend and mark the rear tires and wheels to see if they are moving. I am just hoping that somehow I didn't glaze the disc. I don't flat shift the car either. In ideal conditions I am hopeful that it will compete with the bolt-on record.

Saw you on your way out Mike. I got there real late as usual and only got one run in. I'm taking off Friday so I can get there early and get some practice runs in before saturday and sunday. I dont think Im letting my girl track her car again until I take it down the track. She trapped 92 which is low and got a 2.8 60' smoking the tires down the track. It supposed to be running 13's.

I am wondering if the heat of sitting in traffic and driving an 1-1 1/2 hours to the track then waiting in line for 20 mins, then another line for 15 before getting into the staging lanes is just causing the trans to get too hot. I only let the car sit for a max of 20-30 mins b/w pulls. I think I am going to back out of MIR next weekend and run it up here at Mason. It is only 15 mins from my house and I will let the car sit for an hour or two prior to running it. I will also mark the wheels and tires. If the clutch is fried I am going to drop kick someone in the neck.

1.8 60ft on street tires? Damn sticking track. I got a 2.0 60ft on my Clk55 at Atco. 1.8 would get me into 12s.

Doesn't sound like a clutch issue at all. Makes sense that if it's tire slip it would happen in a higher gear with less downforce on the rims, and the tire spinning faster would naturally pull away from the rim.
