Default optimal rear spring rates?

So, I might have to get a new set of rear springs for the SPL rear mid link (adjustable spring bucket).

I currently have the OEM style stance coilovers with these specs
Stance GR+ with springs in oem location
Spring rates 672/616

Since I will have to get new springs anyhow, which spring rate would be best for going down the 1/4, I assume softer, but how much?

SPL offers alot of choices from 224 lb/in to 1324 lb/in

Hey,

I'm in the same boat. I have monoflex installed and I bought a set of mid links to replace the spring bucket. Unfortunately, the monoflex rear springs don't fit so I'm left with finding a replacement.

Do you know if I HAVE to use the Swift springs advertised on the SPL website? I prefer to choose Tein springs but I'm not sure which(if any) will fit.

Hopefully, someone can offer suggestions.

*EDIT*
Problem solved.

You want the rear relatively soft, but not so soft that you bottom out the shocks when you launch. I have used a 8kg/mm rate 8" long spring to good result (12.8 on a stock internal VQ35DE w/ bolt-ons), but that puts the rear at close to stock ride height. You could use a 7" long spring if you want a drop, but check that you are not bottoming out the shock on the launch.

Just to clarify this for others, you do not have to use the Swift springs. Any 2.5" (or 65mm) inner diameter spring will fit, and that is available from a number of manufacturers: Eibach, Hyperco, H&R, Tein, etc. You should use our spring calculator to figure out the length of the spring you need, for the spring rate and drop you are looking for.

You will need a different length spring since the setup is not exactly the same. If you need help selecting a spring, feel free to email or call us, I can figure out the spring length you need if you let me know what spring rate you want and roughly how much you want to drop the car in the rear.

+1 for SPL. I ordered the mid-links to use with my monoflex and the spl rep told me the EXACT Tein spring I needed for the rear(I don't want to use Swift springs). I called Tein to verify and they couldn't even tell me what I needed, lol.

Thanks SPL.
