First time at the strip, advice?
So yesterday was the first time I finally got my Z to the drag strip, I had a blast!
I went to Island Dragway in great meadows, NJ. Even though the track has a reputation for being "slow" , I was still skeptical about the times I was getting. A lot of it definitely had to do with my starts, which needs work, but as the night went on I was getting the hang of it.
I have a 2005 mt enthusiast with a couple bolt ons :
HKS hi power dual exhaust
Berk HFCs
AEM CAI
and I was on work CR-KAIS , rears are 9.5 wide
i was car 2375
car 3421 was a 2009 Jetta GLI with downpipes, intake, and a tune (MT)
Car 3773 was a 2008 Acura TL type S with an exhaust, intake, and J Pipe (AT)
time slips :
Temperature was in the 80s, humidity was around 35-40%

fixed time slips.... i think
edit : also, I just put the berk HFCs in the day before the track, not sure if that makes any difference with them breaking in or not.

First I will give you credit for trying. Your times are better than the hot dogs here who have never tried drag racing.
That said 14.4 seconds is mediocre. Potential areas of improvement are:
a. Launch. Practice will get you 2.0 seconds.
b. First to second gear shift. Get aggressive! CompuLink shows 9.3 seconds. CompuLink has no favorites. It does not lie.
c. It is August. Not the opportune time for personal best. Z is picking up only 21 MPH in second 660 feet. Cooler temperatures will get you 22 23 MPH.
