it has to do with the way the fuel burns...hopefully someone will come in and explain. I havent ever taken the time to learn why its that way, I just know it is.

there are guys adding 10-20% toulene to thier fuel. Not something I would do, but they claim more hp. Like a lot of things you hear......who knows? I have way too much for stock tires now anyway.

in the z like many higher compression hp engines today the ecu holds the ability to pull timing based on knock count..as well as many other factors...like ect temps, iat temps...ect,. it has been shown on a dyno that a z does gain hp going from 91 to 100 oct gas...however i have not seen a report on gains goin from 91-93-4 oct gas

I dont know why Nissan didnt put the same axle ratio as the (6sp 3.54 vs auto 3.36) I guess the auto would be quicker? I know from the #s I see the auto is right on par with the manual.

That might be a good thing to do if you drag a lot. I would assume these cars would react the way i have seen other auto's react, which is if we did that we would need some really fat tires, because the auto Z would really fly out of the hole. Should make it a much better 1/4 mile car than it is now.

Hello,

I was reading many of you have a 5AT, just wondering how it matches against the 6MT and how you like driving it. How much crank HP do you lose with AT opposed to MT? I am about to purchase an 03 5AT Touring and woud appreciate any dyno/time results and what mods I should look into.

Thanks,
Eric
