So here it is fellas, my first time at a professional track on a test n tune night. First off lets get my numbers up:
R/T... .657
60'... 2.220
330... 5.781
1/8... 8.617
MPH... 87.96
1000... 11.056
1/4... 13.069
MPH... 112.65
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBcmd6f2Fgc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSZz3SOJyzI
Tires are 285/19/35 Bridgestone RE 11's so I launched at 4000 rpm since Im noob as hell and thought that I could pull that off. I had some wheel hop n broke traction in 1st a bit but all in all Man I had a blast... Too bad some guys motor blew up n spewed oil all over the track. I never got in any other runs, but I am now officially hooked.
I will appreciate any n all comments advice or threats etc.... Im new to this n never claimed to be a pro or know wat im doing...
Im jus a guy who put money my own labor n the help of friends into this car and now I see why its all worth it, IMHO Jus riding around on Volks wit a turbo and a loud BOV is cool I guess but this is where it at and Im glad I had the support and opportunity to get to where Im at so far...
The NHRA Supernationals are here next week so the track is shut down for that, but U bet ill be there the following week on both test n tune nights...
Appreciate the time fellas!

Every fawking thread somebody has to ask this as if it mattered. Being new, he should be focusing on learning the track, the rules, the safety and then his car and working on driving. Sitting there for .500 seconds or 5 seconds wont affect his time, ugghh
OP-my comp is acting weird and I cant play those vids right now. Just judging by your time slip....
60ft-you know this is hard with true street tires and boost, it should be IMO 1.9-2.0. I cant watch the vids atm, so I cant hear if you're dumping it or what.
Id imagine like 95% of the people I hear shift, you could improve here. You trapped within 1mph of my 380whp Turbonetics time in the 1/8, but ran .8 slower. Your 1/4 trap seems low for the power, what was the weather like? 380whp should be 114+mph.
Are you hitting 5th or winding out 4th? Where is your rev limiter & peak power and where are you shifting for every gear?
Are you taking notes on launch technique, shift points, and any other variables such as tire pressure after every run? If not, you should be. You will quickly learn what works and what doesnt.
Overall, your learning curve will be steeper because learning the track and the delicate balance of throttle/clutch off the line is much harder FI than NA. I commend you for going out and its nice to see you had fun. 12's is right around the corner, and eventually on street tires, Id shoot for 12.3's for that power.

Alberto.... Who made you an expert on racing?! Since when is your reaction time not important?! Wow the next time I go E-Town (Raceway Park) I got tell them stop showing reaction times on the board, "Alberto" said that shhh aint important!
Yo...Do me a favor post those article about you winning your division at A track, magazines, local new paper, track news paper...etc! Not your time slips or some freakin youtube video of you riding on the hwy with some Jack A$$ in the passenger seat taking a chance on you killing him... Wait is that what makes you an expert???
Me: No expert racer but I know how to race.... And I can cut a light!
Been going to E-Town (Raceway Park) since 1986.
78 Trans Am with a built 455. Low 12's
89 Mustang GT W/ Vortech. 11:70
06 350Z.... Soon to be boosted.
And the reason I asked that question was because I felt like it!

I must say that at this level I should focus on learning how to drive. Reaction time is important to ur overall ET, but jus working on that isnt gonna get me to the finish line. I will incorporate all I learn in the coming months, In which I hope to be built by next season and better at driving so that I can really lay down some official numbers....
And this will happen!

Yes I dumped the clutch at 4k.

I agree I definitely need improvement in my shifting technique.
The weather was approx. 72 deg. Dont kno the humidity but it was a rather cool evening.

Since this was my first time I stretched 4th gear to about 6500-6800 n shifted into 5th as I passed thru the trap. In the outside video I think u can hear me shift. I was jus so hyped that I kept on goin like it was a parkway entrance ramp!!
My rev limiter is set around 6500-6800 so I believe thats about it. Its gonna take a few more runs to get it dialed in....
Are you taking notes on launch technique, shift points, and any other variables such as tire pressure after every run? If not, you should be. You will quickly learn what works and what doesnt.
As far as notes I am definitely doing this. How can I improve if I dont remember wat I did wrong or right the last run...
As far as tire pressure, wat is a good pressure on a 19' street tire? Should I try different pressures? How does it differ and effect my final ET?

only getting 1 pass really wont help ya LOL. Being able to make it thru in 4th gear will help your time as well.
street tires run street pressure, ~30-35psi. no reason to drop the pressure at all, traction will actually suffer.
ya +1 with Alberto, there is absolutely no reason to even look at RT in the near future. It has no bearing on your ET. The clock starts when you cross the beam, not when the light turns green. Thats why you have holeshot wins.
The OP needs to focus on launch technique, etc before worrying about racing the tree.

Agreed that 1 pass wont help, never imagined that... But it was exciting as hell....
I plan on going to Island Dragway next friday night to work on my shifting launching etc...Definitely wanna hold my gears as long as I can..

This is wat I thought...Thanks

True , I think if I was concerned wit a head to head race then R/T matters...
