Default Coilover set up for dragging help???

Guys, im going to the strip in a few weeks and after my last go (first ever time on the 1/4) I know i need to sort out my chassis settings.

I have KW V3 coilovers by the way! lol.

I have been reading about squat, and wieght transfer and from what I gather the rear compression (low speed) needs to be set soft to allow the rear end to squat and the front compression to be set hard and rebound set soft. This means the front end comes up quick on launch and the compression on the front end "holds" the nose up giving my grip to the rear wheels.

Sound ok or am I talking crap? At the moment my settings are track set up so firm to still all round really.

Also a quick answer on tire pressure would be good. Im lookinh to run the fronts at 45-50psi and rears low at 18psi. I ran my tires at 20psi last time and it felt ok? Whats the lowest pressure you guys would recomend on street tires thats safe eg. not allow the tire to spin on the rim? Im thing 15psi might be as low as ill go?

I know "street tires kill my launch" but I dont have MT's or slick so Im making the best of a bad situation! lol..

Thanks for any help on this people.

I was under the impression that tire pressure on stock tires isn't as big a factor as with DR or slicks....but I could be wrong

You have the suspension concept correct. The front end will go up naturally. This is a damper function. Weight will transfer over the rear axle. This is a spring function.

I run street tires at 35 PSI. I recommend that you keep a log:
35 PSI
33 PSI
31 PSI
29 PSI

When you find a sweet spot stick with it.

Any more tips on this guys? Im only going to get 4 runs on the strip next time Im there because its at a car meet/show so I dont have the luxury or trail and error for tire pressure etc.

Im thinking of starting off at 20 psi rear and work down to 15psi for my last run! Sound ok?

you should be able to cut 2.0 60's around 30psi. with street tires, you cant just floor it. thats why you are spinning. Wheel hop and you'll be towing the car home.

i'd focus more on your technique rather than obsessing over making inappropriate tires marginally better, esp with the few run you get.

Bump.

What are people running for suspension at the strip? My rear end doesn't squat at all and I think it might be a big part of my traction issues.
