300ZX Vs 350Z 1/4 Track
I just bought a new 2004 350z and my buddy has a 1991 300zx TT. When the snow melts we are going to take our cars to our local track just out of the city. We want to do a 1/4 and 1/2 mile track.
My 2003 350z Consists of these mods/things done with them:
- 40,xxxkms on engine
- Tire tread around 75-80%
- Stillen Catback Exhaust
- Injen cold air intake
Friends 300zx TT includes:
- 60,xxxkms on oringinal VG30DETT engine
- Brand new street radial performance tires
- Complete engine overhaul approx. 10,000kms ago including: hoses, gaskets, internals etc etc.)
- Approx. 100-200lb weight reduction
- EGR removed
- PRVR removed
- Carbon canisters removed
- He is "turbo-backing" the exhaust soon
- VeilSide Exhaust system (Single piped, not dual)
- Greddy Front Mount Intercooler /w 2.5" piping
- Dual Stillen Cold Air Intakes
- APEXI AVC-R Boost Controller
- HKS Turbo Timer
- Dual APEXI Blow off valves
- Dual Wastegates
- Nismo Short Shifter
- Lowered on TEIN Coilovers
- Slotted rotors
- New Intake Manifolds
- Hard pipes intake kits coming off of each throttle body
- Throttle body coolant bypass
Which car would win on a track? which would win on 1/4 drag track and a 1/2 track? Thanks!

hmmm okay, yeah my 350 is also a 2003* not the 2004* not sure if that makes much of a difference...but yeah he is also a bit faster shifter than I am. But yeah makes sense, a turbo car let a lone a twin turbo would respond sooo much better than a N/A car to breather mods...

The Top Gear vid isn't accurate. Top Gear is scripted, and I can tell you as the owner of both a 1990s 300zx TT and now a 2003 350z, the 300zx was significantly faster, and had a lot more power in the upper end. With the pop charger and boost jets, it could peel tires in 3rd gear at speed. I long for the boost of the 300zx.
The 350z has better handling and brakes, the 300zx had better power and speed. To be honest though, what I miss most is the T-tops. Nothing was like yanking out the roof and going for a sunny summer drive.

Stock vs stock is a driver's race, as both cars make about 240rwhp stock.
Your car +$1000, and you make 242rwhp.
His car +$1000, and he makes 330rwhp.
You do the math.
Tires count incredibly, as does drag racing experience.
