I caught the bug
Just got back from my first trip to the drag strip! Man I'm still pumped.
I got there early and was able to do 8 time trials. I totally barfed my first run(of course) with a 16.23@97.59. But then my 2nd run was my best for the night: 14.17@101.03.
I'm quite new to drag racing but I really liked the system in use. When elimination started, they used a handicap system based on what you "dialed in." I'm sure everybody understands this system so I won't explain it all. Anyway, I chose 14.20 since that was just a little faster than my average runs.
So the elimination starts, and I totally smoked the guy in the first round, even tho I choked and ran a 15.5. 2nd round was intense. I was racing against a honda somethin. I honestly didn't look cause I was so pumped and concentrating on not spinning my damn tires. Anyway, I got a record-for-the-night reaction time of .7270(yea I need practice) and I ran a 14.29@101.30. That was only .09 off my dial in. Long story short, I lost... By a margin of .0329.
Man o man.. .03 seconds.. I've been repeating it over and over in my head. If only I'd dialed in 14.25 like I had planned I may have won. And if I'd been a little more patient and spun the wheels just a little less. See the honda dialed a 15.29. So he had a 1 sec headstart on me. And it took maximum effort not to jump the gun and/or spin the tires like no tomorrow. In any case, it was a freaking blast, and I probably won't be able to sleep tonight.
100% stock by the way. 6-spd touring.
