Bristol Drag Strip/ Street Fights discussion
.....less of a question and more just an attempt at discussion........
We sometimes go to Bristol TN to the Bristol 1/4mile Drag strip......nice track, has all the big races there, etc.
But......they have a summer series there called Street Fights. It's mostly on Thursdays with the occassional Saturday. It's something like $10 to race.....basically anything can race.
Anyway.......track is slow.......super slow.......no prep work......and I mean slick so slick that you have more traction on the street than the track and I'm not exhaggerating.
Last year, we took a turbo'd KA 240sx making 280HP or so on our dyno, and a turbo'd Gti-r 200sx (FWD) making 260HP or so on our dyno...........13.6 for the 240sx and 14.00 for the 200sx.......best we could do
Looking on Camaro forums just Binging out the track.......alot of people say that track is a good .5seconds slower than the average for 11second cars.
.............thoughts?
.......anyone on here go there?
(not a thread asking for tips on how to get faster)

How to be faster on "that" track or just get the 240sx to go faster in general?
What kind of 60ft's we lookin at?
Give me your specs and I might be able to help you more. I use to own a fully built s13 coupe that was stolen. So I've learned allot about drag racing that type of car.

I tried to write that at the beginning AND end.
If you are in Orlando........probably not much info.
What I was writing about was that the track is slow no matter what you drive.
........but I guess no one in that area has the stones to go to the track and are on this forum............let's wait and see
it is a slow track, from the slight incline, to the elevation over sea level... also seems not to be prepped for "street fights"
i have had friends run at bristol, then go to a track on the coast and run .5 secs faster... weird...

In a 300HP at the wheels B13 Sentra, I pulled a horrible 14.3sec. Messing around in the parking lot of the track, I actually had MORE traction than on the strip. I had to peddle the car for first and second, meaning I had more power than I could use. but on the streets, I could foot to the floor and not spin. Now, I'm talking street tires though.

you can definitely tell a difference there when the track is prepped for a event. they say the best time to go to "street fights" is after a big event at the track so the track is still a lil sticky
actually, the more I think about it, you are right
I'm 100% postive the starting line is up hill..........because I roll backwards.
I forgot about that. It's actually always bothered me.......you can have a normal car in a driveway or here at JGY and it be on a slight slight incline.....and not roll.
But at Bristol, it looks flat, but damn.....at the line you roll backwards.......it must be a combo of super super smooth track and uphill
It's a royal pain in the buttcheeks with a car with no Ebrake or line lock......becuase you have to make the choice to either clutch ride to hold your spot or hold the brake............and then move your foot from brake to gas and rev when the light hits
