Default First time at the strip with the 05 Z

So I went to Orlando Speed World this last sat 18th. First time with the car at the strip. Best run I got out of 4 was a 14.1 @ 97 with a 2.1 60ft. Slowest was a 14.6 @ 96 Humid and a little warm out.

I've seen others listed here with stock VQDE's trapping in high 13's with a 100+ trap. Any advice on getting those extra mph I need?

Tire pressure was normal 35psi, so next time I'm going to set it to 29-30 and see if that will help with getting out of the hole faster. Also tires tread life is maybe 25% so im sure that's not helping. I avoided water box and spun tires only to get dirt off. Clutch felt like it was slipping a little, might be why I'm missing those extra mph I need.

Figure I need to knock .3 or .5 sec off my launch to get the number's I want in stock form. I'm determined to get in the 13's stock before modding and I think new tires and clutch pp will do it.

What do you guys think?

Slip pics available upon request.

Im up in Jax and actually heading to SGMP tonight. You should try there, I've heard the track in orlando is not that good and I know the track in Georgia is solid.

Actually OSW is under new management now and the track was actually really sticky..i'm sure my poor results are from my lack of experience with the vehicle being its new and I'm still learning what it likes and doesn't like. Beside's if I want to go to another track I could go to Bradenton in Tampa. Which is like 1 hour away vs Jacksonville which is like 3 or 4 hrs away.

Good luck gett'n in those 12's though man

Yeah allot of "la fiebre" honda crowd there. Thats all ricers and wanna be thugs. Street racing idiots. We hear about kids getting shot and run over all time within that group, and their cars are slow garbage.

I used to have a account on there when I had my built 240 and saw the same thing and never came back

Don't tell me you cant do that on street tires. Before my 240 was built I was running a gt2871 .86 on a stock sr20det at about 10-11 psi. roughly equates to 300 crank hp. Anyway I had a pair of Nitto 555 extreme's 245/45/17's launched at 3,200rpm boost sweet spot, and was able to cut a 1.9 60' with a 13.2 @ 107.

So don't say it cant be done on street radials, because I've done it. Of course the 240 was only 2700 lbs, and this Z is a tank in comparison, so you might be right but I hope your not. lol

I think that you did considerably better than all the bench racers around here. Continue practicing and you will improve each time out.

I don't understand how your mph is so low, when I run a 2.1 60ft that gets me a 13.5< but I'm on all season tires so its pretty difficult.

Can you post a timeslip so we can see where your losing time.

When I get home I'll post up the numbers. Clutch is slipping a little, so I think if I replace that, it's going to improve my trap speeds. Let ya know.

I don't really understand. I ran 14.35 my first time out but my mph was 99.8 and you ran 14.1 but your mph was only 97. That seems odd to me. I just did the density altitude calculator for drag racing. My corrected time for density altitude would be 13.958 at 102.745. You should try using this calculator. It has all the tracks on there in the US and you can just put in your location and date and then fill in the rest with the numbers it tells you.

It must be the clutch slipping a little then (I feel it after things are hot), because I'm shifting right before or on the shift light. I think I set it for 6,700rpms or 6,600rpm's. I'm not new to drag racing at all so my shifts are lightning quick I verge on powershifting almost.

Thanks for the feed back, its appreciated.

I doubt the accuracy when I see things like this after entering my info:

Stock and Mildly Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
14.009 @ 99.024 MPH

Extensively Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
14.11 @ 98.44 MPH

Extensively Modified Supercharged and Turbocharged Engines
14.137 @ 98.128 MPH

So according to that website Im just as fast as a FI car LMAO and faster if Im stock

Thanks anyway.
