Default Press Release from Performance Motorsport

PERFORMANCE MOTORSPORT ANNOUNCES NHRA CHAMPION GEORGE IOANNOU AS NEWEST MEMBER OF THE TEAM!

NEW YORK (July 21, 2004) – In a bold move, just days after his release from Street Glow Racing, George Ioannou finds a new home with Performance Motorsport, of Smithtown, Long Island, New York. “We have added another marquee name to our already impressive list of employees” says Dan Ziegler General Manager. Effective immediately the 2003 NHRA Sport Compact Pro-Class RWD Champion George Ioannou has joined Performance Motorsport for the balance of the 2004 season and into 2005.

Performance Motorsport welcomes George to the organization, after years atop the leader board with Street Glow Racing in both the NHRA Summit Sport Compact Series as 2003 Pro-Rwd champion, current 2004 NHRA points leader and the NDRA X-Box Series as 2002 champion and 2003 runner-up, George brings a wealth of experience and knowledge.

George will spearhead the development of the VQ 3.5 liter engine program for Performance Motorsports Pro-Class RWD 350Z due to begin testing in September.
“I feel that the VQ 3.5 Nissan Engine will be the future of the import drag racing
Pro-segment in 2005” says Ioannou “its power potential is unmatched, and the Performance Motorsport team is willing to do what is necessary to run with the best in the pro-compact RWD segment.”

Ioannou will also oversee the racing program and focus on getting 19 year old Driver Andrew Rubio into the winners circle as Performance Motorsport campaigns its Twin Turbo Nissan 350Z in the highly competitive BFGoodrich Street Tire class at upcoming NOPI Drag Racing Association (NDRA) events.

“This was the opportunity we have been waiting for” says Gary Rubio, team owner, “I can not express what a honor it is to have a person of George’s caliber working with our organization as we move in the right direction and he assists us as we ascend to the next level in professional sport compact drag racing”.

“Although a primary team sponsor has not yet been secured for the 2005 season, it will be only a matter of time now that George is on board, as well as respected chassis builder Jay Forgione formally of Roush Racing and Bill Davis Racing organizations heading the in-house development program.” With the pro-class car nearing completion, sponsor discussions on-going, the shop busy with customers, and our team coming together in such a short period of time success is just around the corner” says Ziegler. We can not wait to start testing the new car!

Performance Motorsport, Inc. is a progressive thinking racing organization that is on the cutting edge of the import re-styling and import performance tuning industries. In association with two of the largest Nissan Dealerships in the New York area, Performance Motorsport operates an import tuning center catering to the automotive enthusiast, a professional drag racing company, and import entertainment organization.
