Default Drifting in Japan

A friend of mine is in a band who recently went on tour in Japan. While he was there, he called me up, very excited. One of the local Japanese bands that took care of them and showed them around town hooked my friend up with a group of guys who took him drifting up some of the mountain roads in Japan, at night.

He doesn't speak any Japanese, and they don't speak English, but I guess he hung out with them all night. I don't know about you guys, but I was envious. Mountain Roads + Japan + Turbocharged Skylines = A damn good time.... Figured it was a cool story that some might appreciate. It's not everyday you get to do something like that.

Hey Brotha,

I really don't know what I am doing here, haha. I just like getting the perspective of owners of different cars; its pretty cool. I would like to get a 350z convertible as a daily-driver, but I don't really think I can afford one right now. I would rather put my money back into my business right now. I guess we'll see.

I've heard good things about VF's S/C kits. I will pm you if anything comes up. Do you work for them?

Sounds cool Ali! how'd you like the Dinan blower? Let me know if you ever need more power for it

And what is the Greddy kit doing on your desk? Hurry up and get that thing on the car already!!!

did you just call me ali? i hang out with ali.......

i've been waiting for my pe radiator for at least a month now. its been a good deal longer than that i think. i overheat the car completely stock at least a few times every drift day. it will probably be undrivable from heat on the stock radiator, with my right foot. can't wait to put the kit on though, as i have so many stupid parts for that thing.

as for the dinan setup, i am really suprised the crappyness of dinan parts and craftsmanship. all i ever heard of dinan was how wonderful all there stuff is, how you get what you pay for, blah blah blah. their stuff just isn't designed to be beaten on, which is kinda lame. i purchased the kit used though, and rebuilt the supercharger 1st thing even. i'm running active autowerx software and a few other parts, and i must say they have terrible customer service until you purchase something, then it doesn't get much better.

all in all, if you want to tune a car to an inch of its life, start with a japanese one. you can buy nearly ever part of an sr20 or rb motor aftermarket, which is awesome.

thought you where Ali... sorry

The Dinan kits are pretty crappy... so is the AA software... it's real sad how low the quality of the Euro performance parts are.

Good luck with the Greddy kit! which radiator are you waiting on?

the pe, power enterprises. we shall see how it goes. but i agree about tuning euro parts. no plug and play stand alones, over priced turbo kits and sc kits, power quality of parts, lack of parts, ect. i only paid a grand for the dinan kit, so eh. i need to just put a piggy back on it and tune it instead of all this mail in bs.

i just realized who you are. you were drifting at the sonoma fd event, correct? i towed ali out to that one with my black lifted duramax truck. are you going to try to get back into fd through the feeder series this year? i might give it a whack, since i've been putting my r33 together for something, no real reason. it got wrecked last year at fd houston.

for true, well priced, plug and play for euros see our stuff:

www.vf-engineering.com

wasn't me at Sonoma... I was at Wall, NJ (didn't drive) and was at Irwindale as a spectator.

I'll probably won't compete in FD, if i do, it'll be in my Corolla

I may do the D1 event coming up in December though... probably use the Z for that one since that's what the judges seem to like.

It would be great to see the R33 back out at the events! I bet is sucks having to wait for parts everytime though... Good luck with that!

oh, i thought you were someone else too, my bad : )

waiting for r33 parts does suck, but oddly enough they aren't very expensive compared to z parts, even after shipping over seas. older cars, old parts.
