i saw this on a forum i go on. Is this a good deal and will it even fit the Z? They came off a 240sx. They're 17x8s with a +30 offset, he thinks.

My 17x9.5 RPF01s are only 17.6 lbs.
Price difference, is about $75 more per wheel.

If you look at it from a performance stand point, its very worth while.
Very little money, for HUGE performance gain.
what do they look like on your z, i cant remember who they are made by.

Wink Back from the dead.

This thread contains good info on wheels for drifting.

I'm currently using 18" LMGT4s filled with nitrogen as my daily. I've decided to purchase 4 17" wheels for drifting but I'm not sure what size tires to buy.... Obviously I'm asking because I'm new to the sport and I need help.

I read at 350zmotorsport.com that 245 (F) 265 (R) is a good setup for drifting. If that's the case then I'll have to choose my wheels to fit that size as well as fit on the vehicle properly. Any insight?

Honestly, I think anything larger than 265 in the rear is ridiculous but, again, I'm new to drifting so I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.

I'm running 245/40R18 all around (Nismo LMGT4's 18x9.5 +20) with a 3.5 final drive. I can burn 3rd in fast sweepers but I run second gear for most of the slower stuff. Basically stock motor (headers, tune). It's easy to balance and rotates nicely, granted some of that has to do with suspension setup and alignment. Moving to 275's rear, 245's front, along with 4.083 final drive to go with my VK56 next year.

Mike,

What're your suspension mods? Can you post your total mod list, create a garage or whatever...?

I have a touring w/ VDC and I think it's bad to run anything other than staggard. Granted I will turn off the VDC but I still think I shouldn't.

Saleen Replica's. I've got a set of them and usually see them for about 400 bucks for the set. 18x9 +22 18x10 +24

Or the "GTR" replica's. They are heavier than they are ugly, but they are same size's and are like $70 a piece brand new.

Otherwise wheels like Ruff Racing are super cheap, good sized. Look around for wheels off of Mustangs because they are generally cheap *** wheels but really decent sizes.

Also, check used threads on Zilvia.net cause people always have bangin wheels on there for super cheap.

I run gold LMGT4's 18x8.5 and 18x9.5. Except, I switch em up.
Because I have the extended fenders in the front I run the 9.5 with Nitto NT01's as my front wheels and I am running Toyo T1R's in the rear. I dont like the Toyos at all. I had a set of rears from my Z that came with the car that I used and man I loved them Great Smoke and they hold up to the high heat of the competition track, which is a banging plus for a set of tires. The tires that are on there are called Riken. These are a Michelin North America Tire that run for in a 235/40R18 for $128.50

Maybe others have a difference of opinion but I dont care. I have used these tires at the track and they are still not destroyed. My car is a torque monster. It's not NA so I could use whatever I wanted as a tire and drift the **** out of it easily. We've used Nitto NT01's from the get go. That's what I learned on. Pretty expensive way to learn but the Nitto's held up to the heat of a rookie with a led foot. I learned the basics and switched it up.

I actually just added the the complete SPL parts for the car and I got the car out for the first time last night and OH MY GOD! I cant believe I wasted money on other things before I did this! As a drifter you so want to do this. Prior to buying rims and tires and all that crap, get your car setup first the right way and then rock out with it.

Just my .02

Thanks for the advice. How far do you think I can go with my stock suspension? My Z is a daily and 1-2 month drifter.

Don't run 9.5 front, 8.5 rear, that is honestly one of the stupidest things I've ever read.

Ruben, in terms of mods to get started. I would first pick up SPL Outers and tein inner tie rods, get Project MU pads and adjust your ebrake so it works properly. Start with that and running used tires from a local dealer or tire shop (like I said when we spoke before, I'd stick around a 245 balanced setup to start learning). After that you can think about more power, suspension, differential, etc.
