Default Mineral Wells, TX 4/10/2010 drift event and car meet

Drifting: Alrighty folks, here we go again. If you don't know where this venue is, just go to maps.google.com and search for Mineral Wells Airport, TX. Click on the satellite pic and you can see where we play VERY clearly. The lot is HUGE, and we often hit speeds of around 100mph on entry. Everyone is welcome to come out and drive even if it is your first time. We have people to instruct you, and help you through your first day. Drivers meeting is at 9:30 am or slightly after, and we drive until around 4:30-5:30 pm. This is the last Mineral Wells date to practice before the LONESTARBASH comes to us in MAY.

Car Meet: Come hang out in a fun atmosphere with a bunch of people with cool cars. Ride along with the drifters, get some pointers, and be a part of the Texas scene. We regularly have some really cool cars out at Mineral Wells, and you don't have to worry about getting kicked out by cops or standing around without anything fun to do. Regular cars that attend our events include about 8 LS1 swapped import cars, 2JZ swapped cars, a V8 AE86, tons of turbo 240sx's, BMWs, 350Zs, etc. You will have fun! Bring a helmet so you can ride along with the drifters!

Media: We will be shooting some cars on Saturday before the event, and then again on the Sunday of the event. The photographer is looking for cool cars to shoot for blogs such as Motormavens.com, Speedhunters.com, Stanceworks.com, and many others. He also has work featured in magazines such as S3 Magazine, and all the major import tuner mags. Here is a link to the photographers flickr stream. http://www.flickr.com/photos/evinsj

Here is the home thread for this if you are reading on other forums besides Fabricatedmotorsports.com. http://fabricatedmotorsports.com/for...p?topic=1723.0

I don't control the weather, but I run the events rain or shine! : )

Whats up, guys? I took some coverage of the recent event at Mineral Wells on March 7th, 2010 that I wanted to share with everybody.

To be honest, it was my first trip to Mineral Wells. I live in Houston, so I drove up the day before and crashed at a friend's house. The trip couldn't have seemed more perfect at the time - beatiful, warm day and great weather! I went to sleep excited to get out to the event early in the morning and see what Mineral Wells was all about!

... I woke up day of the event thinking to myself, "Damn, its cold as hell!" I got up, walked over and peeked outside and was greeted with the unfortunate site of fog and rain. Either way, I wasn't about to make the drive for nothing so I packed up and headed out to the event.

When I got there, the first thing I thought was "Wow, this lot is huge!" followed quickly with, "Where the hell is everybody!?" Out of the corner of my eye I saw a guy walking towards me in the distance, waving his hands. I assumed he worked there since I didn't see his vehicle. As I got closer, I realized it was Aaron... and then I realized why I didn't see his truck - it was in the mud behind the trailer!

I didn't have a vehicle capable of pulling the truck out, but we decided to run up to Walmart and grab some tow straps. Luckily, the guys from Austin showed up soon after with a truck and trailer and towed Aaron's truck out of the mud.

Although the weather was hard to deal with, cars started to show up slowly and everyone had a chance to talk a bit while the track was being set up.

A couple of the guys showed up bright and early to hang out and watch, despite the rain. Alot of the spectators had pretty clean cars.

The drivers got out and started swapping their drift wheels on and prepping their cars.

Atleast one guy in the group wasn't camera shy in the least, haha.

The rain will get the best of you at some point if you skateboard in the rain :P

Finally, the cars were prepped and Aaron went ahead and introduced himself and held the driver's meeting, followed by a short walkthrough on the track.

Finally, the drivers headed out to the track and had a chance to tear it up!

Looks like I will never be practicing in this Z.... my engine belt broke AGAIN.
Third time in a row... dealerships cant figure out why, so I may just part it out and trade it in for something else RWD.

Looks like one of your pulleys either has a sharp edge on it (damaged from something) or one of them is installed backwards.

Cant wait for this, DFW would be even farther for us to drive to Mineral Wells, so we will just have to meet at MW.

But yea, my dealership said.... everything looks perfect and aligned, so we ordered a new belt and will see what happens from there... wtf. Is that a proper mechanic technique?
new VQ35HR or its BBB for me...

Well, plans changed. I won't make it out on the 10th because my cousin is having her wedding rehearsal dinner at the Ranger game. Awesome!
