As soon as Don King gets involved with the judging of drifting, it's all over.

Does everyone always have to look at the negative side of drifting?

I dunno. Drift competitions are like ice skating. You go by the judges and they rate how pretty your drift is. I don't really like that aspect of it. I wish "drift racing" was really racing, maybe on a down hill with lots of very technical sections where its faster to drift the course than grip drive the course.

Then it'd be less one guy judging everything and more about time and technique.

Just my 2 cents.

Hmmm, ice skating huh? How many heterosexual males do you see competing in ice skating?

"Ohhhh yummmy!!!!! His drift style is simply to die for!"

Let me see. Drifting is now sanctioned by a racing body, the SCCA, but drift styling is the measurement that is used to determine a winner. Odd, whatever floats your boat, but you better have a large tire budget. I think it is silly to imitate rally cars who race, with stylists who drift. Wrong turn for SCCA IMO, but I really don't care.

My opinions on this:

-SCCA is just looking at this for the $ potential
-drifting is not racing
-SCCA is not going to get the results they are hoping for
-these drifting events are going to take away from track time that could be better used for racing events
-SCCA as an organization has its head planted deep in its ***

Drifting events attract tons of ricers, whom I have a great dislike for. Ricers cause problems that give outsiders the wrong impression about real motorsports. It also seems like most (not all) drift enthusiasts think that drifting really is the fast way around a racetrack. I'm not saying that the guys that really know what they are doing when drifting aren't talented or skilled. I just don't like the ricer mentality, and drifting almost caters to that mentality....don't be fast, just look fast.

You asked for comments...nomex on

i always thought drag was boring as a motor sport. i mean some dragsters have a single button and u go strait. what fun is that. boring. thats why i think drag sucks and drifting is way funner. ricer or not, better then going to those borning nascar races that just go in repetative oval tracks. boring.

Well its nice to see people share their opinions... Didnt realize there was so much hate towards drifting. But dont think its going to stop me, or slow me down at all.

Now i know why there is never talk about drifting in this forum.

the american mentality or racing is just raw power and going strait, and i think that sucks. racing also includes turning and many other aspects. thats why american cars were just built for power and going strait and not even givng any thought to turning. im glad drifting is here.
