Mineral Wells drift event on 8/22/2010

Drifting: *Alrighty folks, here we go again. *If you don't know where this venue is, just go to maps.google.com and search for Mineral Wells Airport, TX. *Click on the satellite pic and you can see where we play VERY clearly. The lot is HUGE, and we often hit speeds of around 100mph on entry. *Everyone is welcome to come out and drive even if it is your first time. *We have people to instruct you, and help you through your first day. *Drivers meeting is at 9:30 am or slightly after, and we drive until around 4:30-5:30 pm. *
Car Meet: *Come hang out in a fun atmosphere with a bunch of people with cool cars. *Ride along with the drifters, get some pointers, and be a part of the Texas scene. *We regularly have some really cool cars out at Mineral Wells, and you don't have to worry about getting kicked out by cops or standing around without anything fun to do like normal car meets. *Regular cars that attend our events include LS1 swapped import cars, 2JZ swapped cars, a V8 AE86, tons of turbo 240sx's, BMWs, 350Zs, etc. *You will have fun! *Bring a helmet so you can ride along with the drifters!
Media: *We will have multiple photographers and video people shooting for online blogs, possible magazine stuff, and general online stuff. *There has been a ton of Speedhunters, Motormavens, Maydaygarage, Stanceworks, and other content generated at these events lately.
Here is the home thread for this if you are reading on other forums besides Fabricatedmotorsports.com.

Sponsorship class 8/21/2010 in FW
Here is a cross post from another forum about a class I'm teaching up in FW soon. People keep asking me sponsorship questions all the time, and I've been asked to teach a class. I don't think I'm going to do this subject more than once, so if you are interested, go to this. If you don't, you are never allowed to ask me these questions again because I took an entire couple days out of my time to create the course and then teach it!
-----------------------
I've been asked several times how to write and present sponsorship proposals, and I think I'm going to have a little seminar on them up here in Fort Worth. It will be another Saturday class, most likely in August. I haven't begun preparing for this yet, but the basic outline will be:
1. We will discuss what companies want, how to give it to them.
2. We will cover the process of all this, who to contact, how to find them.
3. You will be given some drivers decks and my personal sponsorship packet in an editable format that you can play with.
4. I will break down the cost to benefit ratio of what to go after, and how to decide if it is worth it, which it often is not!
5. We will talk about how to make yourself marketable, and give examples, etc.
6. There will be a bunch of other stuff.
7. Your responsibilities as a driver, and why 90% of drifters **** their sponsors, and run them off.
Basically we are gearing up for a huge year next year, and we are trying to make drifting way bigger in Texas. Out of just a hand full of Texas drivers, over the course of the last 24 months, I would say 5 people have pulled in over $100K in sponsorship dollars. This is real money, and we need to get together and discuss this a bit. I want to do what I can to keep Texas on the best path I can, and I need my drivers to have all the help they can get to do it.
You need to sign up for this in advance this time, there will be a ten dollar charge per person since I put so much time and effort into these things, and share so much info. You get an entire day of my time, plus a setup day, and in return you feed me a combo meal someplace : ) in the form of ten dollars!

I just want to say congrats to NATE in the Blue S13, he is a driver from Texas who did a FANTASTIC job out in Jersey last weekend! It is nice to see our MW dudes ripping it up!!!!! We also took Will, Chelsea and my car out there from Texas, and everyone did a great job! Will's little AE86 is pumping out so HP with his new little built motor! Anyways, we all had a great time out in NJ!
