hahahaha yess, im glad someone got some good video of this, this is member Ktran driving his Z. We figured out Ebay 30mil studs suck for drifting

kinda funny cus he was using my white drift spares

car is ok tho, just cracked the rear bumber a bit and pushed the exhuast a little higher up, he kept drifting shortly after this incident

his wheel fell off and i bent both my tie rods, GGP always f's up our louisiana cars, haha

It probably happened because of the ugly tails and spoiler, the car went into self destruct mode!

Glad/suprised he only damaged the the rear bumper exhuast, wow that was violent!

I understand ebay studs were used, and I know nothing on the quality of their build, but 9 out of 10 its actually the fault of the wheel installer.........if the wheel isn't centered and the lug nut tightens up off centered the wheel will come loose when it does center up........this can lead to a catastrophe like this....

Ian, did he have spacers on when this happened? cause the stock wheels will sit on the Z rear hub lip and center up?? if no spacer was used, then you can narrow it down to the studs then for sure...

Did he use a torque wrench on that tire swap???

if i know kim, the spacers were installed correctly, hes been drifting for a long time, half of the studs broke out of the bolt on spacer so im just assuming it was due to poor quality material

^ exactly! my thoughts.........odds are there was no hubcentric ring that matched the wheel 66.1 bore, OR he didnt hold the wheel center and tighten the lugs up right....

odds are it really wasnt the spacers fault........

do you know if the spacers had hubcentric rings holding the wheel centered?

Default <--thats my z, confirmation and details

im the one who owns/drives the z; i had a lot of friends helping me unload/prepp my car. Even though i remember tightening the lugs with a 4 way...i should of rechecked them after my 1st run because the wheel falling off happened on my 2nd or 3rd run.

but anyway, the spacers were BRAND NEW 38mm hubcentric 66.1(nissan bore) bolt on spacers from ebay; i've used plenty of ebay 30mm and 25mm and along with 30mm project kics; namebrand didnt make a difference because none ever failed on me; i really believe it was my fault. 2 of the 5 studs broke and the other 3 were fine, looks like the lugs came loose. And yes, while bolting down the wheels; that wheel was centered correctly while the car was in the air.

anyways, i had a lot of fun driving the event, although this happened, no serious damage resulted, i was able to put on more spacers, drift the rest of the day, ate some good food, had a good time in htown and drive 300+miles back home in one piece...lesson learned(retorque).

I just got home from houston; gotta catch up on some sleep; i'll take pics of the spacers when i get a chance and post if anyone wants to see.
