It's lighter cuz it's a smaller 2.0L engine. It is not less stable than the VQ engine. It's a really good engine that can take lots of abuse.

not to mention, it's a little easier to work on with the little bit of extra room in engine bay now

Research and developement my friend.

This things been on the market alot longer and have gone through trials and testing with different mods. You have an array of modifications to choose from and many of them are proven to work absolutely fine. It's already been proven and can be pushed to it's max potential.

I think it's only setback is it has to be pretty high strung to perform. Like most tuned engines, If you don't know how to maintain it right it won't shine.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe the Sylvia is considered one of the most tunable cars in Japan?

damn this thread got crazy fast...

yeah the silvia is considered the most tunable car in japan based on the fact that they have the most aftermarket available.

I chose the sr motor on the reasons that mr. b said in his post, more aftermarket, lighter motor, cheaper, more space in the engine bay (which makes it easier to work on and keeps things cooler).

and yeah, im not with signal auto anymore, i left them about a week or 2 ago. looks like i need a new sig!

and yes, i will be in houston on april 10th for drift showoff, and again for formula d! www.formulad.com look ma! i made the front page!

yeah its possible, people put the vg in 240sx's and the vq isnt as wide because of the twin turbos. and they have the same oil pan layout as the ka and sr, so if you make the mounts, it should clear everything.

But that's just adding more weight to a 240sx.

Didn't Top Secret put a VQ into their Skyline R34? Supposedly, they want to "stay ahead of the game" when the new GTR's roll in equipped with the VQ engine.

well being that whoever did it only took out the front two hood pins... instead of it flapping up on the hindges, it broke at the rear mounts and went into the windshield... so it never hit the roof.

So Topics, do you have any idea of the weight difference between the sr20 and Vq35? I know it would be quite a bit, but I can't find anyone with numbers on the weight of either motor/tranny set up. Or the RB26 for that matter.
