Default sr20 in a z?

I wonder how well the z will drift with a sr20 in it? Does any one even know how much this would cost? Topics im sure you can get this for dirt cheap since you drift for signal and all....(hook a brother up) Would it even be worth it? Or maybe a rb26 would be a bit cheaper and better for the weight ditribution..??.. What is the weight distribution on a 350z ne ways??

just my 2 cents but the sr should be much lighter than the vq..... so it may help with the front wheels pushing. Plus its not uncommon for sr's to get gobs of power..... actually there already is a rb 350z and I think there may be a sr 350 out there somewhere too.

An RB26DETT will cost you way more than an SR20DET, but you can get significantly more horsepower out of the RB26 (i.e., just look at all the 500-1000hp Skylines out there). I don't see any benefit to installing an SR20 into the 350Z, except that it's lighter than the VQ (and costs less than the RB26).

Hmm..ic I would have thought the sr20 would cost a bit more. Just beacuse the z has a 6 speed tranny in it, and the sr20 requires a 5 speed tranny. Well i guess if you get a rb26 you would also require to swap the tranny ne ways.
Well actually i think the s15 sr20 is a 6 speed....??....But that motor cost just as much as an rb26.. Wow im excited..Im really thinking about a sr20 swap..I have one in my 95 240sx and im in love. Honestly, I would take a sr20 over a vq greddy turbo ne day. Need more input..........

Here is a picture of the setup... it is the only one in the world as of right now. I built the whole thing with my friend tony angelo. it was a pretty extensive, and expensive swap. The whole setup is somewhere from 12-15k in just parts. And since i did it i didnt have to pay for labor on stuff like the mounts, and the vmount setup. just parts. even the president of top secret was loving it! haha, he stopped by like 3 times during d1, and also stopped by the shop the day after to see it.

p.s. it drifts way better than before... and it makes 370rwhp with this setup... vs. the 350rwhp it made with the procharger. and the car weighs 2600lbs... yes, 2600lbs. so thats what, 700lbs less than stock? it is so tossable and controlable now.

2600lbs, 370whp, that's better power to weight raio than a 911 turbo! (my own personal standard).

It must be a rush to drive this car now! plan to take it to the drag stip and test the 1/4mile time?

I saw this car in person...nice job Topic!

From afar I thought it was a wrecked Z because it looked like it barely had an engine. The hood was gone and so was your right headlight.

As I got closer I realized it was an Sr20 engine with the hood and light taken out. The car was almost completely gutted and there was a diverse crowd around it just marveling at it. I wonder if half of them even KNEW what they were staring at.

haha, funny part is... NO ONE realizes that we swapped (and i think still the only people in the world) a totally different motor into it... i get questions like... hey, you got a twin turbo on this one? cuz that guy has a twin turbo kit on his over there... as they are staring at the motor with the hood off!!!

Well, i did pretty much the whole job with my friend Tony Angelo. I guess they are capable of doing the job... but the parts alone were 12-15k, and the labor would be about that much more...

but yeah ill have the car at dd i think. i am going to an event in pa at the end of the month, so as long as things are ok, and i have time to go...

His motor was sold a long time ago. I can tell you, that this thing catches up in the corners to my 3300lb beast even with my greddy kit. Chris' car is fuggin sick.

On the subject of the sr20...do any of you guys have any idea how much the average D1 s14 or s15 weighs with this motor in it?

He'll be at Drift showoff in Houston. Also there for Formula D later in June I think. He's not part of Signal anymore. Chris, we need to just throw Function Garage all over the car so no one calls you Signal anymore. j/k
