So it's safe to say that you could save $5,000 - $10,000 CDN if you import from the US?

Thanks for bringing this thread back to life and answering the original question sony, I think this is more a rough estimate than anything else. I would feel more confident in these numbers if someone here has actually imported, and can verify that these are the only costs that one would have.

I believe the best way to find out EXACTS is to find a car dealer (probably not Nissan) that imports vehicles from the US.

This way, you can go to them and tell them specifically what you want (06 350Z coupe, red, base model with air bags, etc) and what you are willing to pay.

Let them handle all the safety and importing details. May have to pay for their survice, but it won't cost $5,000 - $10,000 CDN.

Just watch out because a some of these import dealers find defective vehicles (accident repaired) or lemons and turn them for a profit.

Huh, I never knew some dealerships imported models from the states. Would these be your regular franchise dealers or smaller, harder to find dealers ( say in Toronto for example)?

All I can offer is patience, patience, patience. I was in the process of selling my '03 Civic SiR, just waiting until I got the right offer or the right trade could be made. Fast forward a few months, and then I happened to be driving by one of the local Dodge dealerships and they had a used '03 on the lot! Long story short, I got them to give me ridiculously excellent value for my car, and I talked them down to 27500 for the '03 Z with 45k km on it (in great condition, and carfax record was clean). Factor in my trade-in (16000), and the private sale of all the mods I dumped into my Civic (JDM parts are expensive, lol), and I actually came out even (okay, MAYBE 1000 into the hole).

Does anyone know what it would cost me, to get my Z over the border to stay in Canada? Once it's paid off, which should be soon, I want to drive it back to Montreal from Los Angeles. What will I get socked with? Taxes, etc? Anyone?

Thanx Jen

P.S. What's the weather like at home? TO, MTL?
