Default 24K service for the Z

I recently brought my Z for a 24K service at the dealer.

The service itself costs $280+tax. However, the service department later called me and asked if I wanted to do the following things to the Z while they are getting it serviced. Of course, everything costs extra.

1. Wheel alignment $120
2. Brake Fluid Flush $60
3. Cleaning Brake Disc $60 (Because I had cross-drilled brembo discs and there were some brake disc collected inside the holes)
4. Synethic Oil Extra $10/litre (6L total) = $60

I said NO to all those extra service.
After this experience, it seems that dealers are more interested in milking people when they bring the car in for serivce.

What do you guys think? Is it really necessary to do a wheel alignment and brake fluid flush every 24K? I don't drive my car hard, probably just red line it once or twice a week.

I completely skipped the 24K service... It's a glorified oil change...

The 30K service is a little more serious, I think.

What is the condition of your brake fluid? Does it need changing?

I recently had my 30K done and Brake flush.

if you're still on dino engine oil, i'd switch to synthetic for sure. But i'd also bring my own oil to get the work done if you need to visit the dealer still (this is what i do for oil changes.).

and you only need 5L of oil..unless the specs have changed for 06 Z's

The dealer charge me $1350 to change to Ceremic brake pads plus installation. I think that's ridiculous!

Thats INSANE !!
Grab a good set of ceramic pads from ebay and do them yourself. Ive had my calipers off a few times already, and the pads out to paint them (calipers). Easy job replacing them.

^Take it to Simone Performance Import, got mine done for $110, not on the cheap side, but definitely a good job.

I stopped taking my car to the dealership. I made some interesting discoveries about my car after dealership worked on them for warranty issues.

1. When they fix one thing, another issue appears out of nowhere, it's like they're doing it on purpose to keep you coming back
2. I was stripping my hatch the other day... to find 5 screws, 5 plastic clips and a damn hatch shock bracket underneath the styrofoam... no wonder there was rattling coming from the hatch...
3. The $500 "Maintenance #3" is nothing special at all... All they did was give me new washer fluid and oil change
4. They're full of ****. This is what the b.s. they gave me for my oil consumption "oh you're running 5w30, that's too thin, you need 10w30".

From that day on, I do all the work myself or at least go to another shop. Definitely much cheaper and more beneficial
