In my experience trhe best "place" to buy a car is from someone who is an enthusiast. They can answer questions better than most dealer salespeople and in most cases the car is well cared for.
Right on this site is where my search ended... after many attempts to get a good deal off both AutoTrader and eBay.
Obviously with a private sale you have to exercise due diligence and whatever you do... don't make full payment till you've seen the car in person.

feeler on used gauge cluster..
I have a cluster reading in Kph.
The digital readout also displays the kph reading although it says mph.
If anyone is interested in a swap for their mph cluster, lmk..
It reads >38 k at the moment.

How much were you looking at getting for it?

I got an 03 imported form the states with 7500 miles on it and landed it in canada for under 21500. It is real easy to find these things. Why would you want to change the gauge cluster it reads in both mph and kph..
I have VDC in my car and 18 inch rims so I figure I have an enthusiast model..

I just picked up my Pearl White 03 Touring 6MT from the U.S. last night. Drove about 6 hours (one way) to get it. I bought it for $11k in an auction. It has 26,000 miles on it. It's much cheaper to get it from the U.S. by far. The car needs a little cosmetic work done to it, but in the end it'll still be cheaper than buying it in Canada.

I'm a little hesitant to look anywhere past 5~6 hour drive from Toronto because it's hard to see the car in person before the purchase.

Copart is great if you want to get a salvage car to rebuild lots of great deals on their site. I found the car above at a dealer auction. To be honest I over paid by alot. You can check the auto trader for some good deals. I found a 05 convertible 350Z on copart a few months ago it had 14000 miles though and I managed to get it for 15900 cdn shipped into Canada. I ended up putting almost 4800 cdn into it. So it wasnt a great deal as far as price goes. It is a nice car with a clean title, I will probably want somewhere in the mid 30's when I let it go.

I also never bother on seeing the car in person I dont really have time to do that. If it is a piece of junk I can use the parts on another one. Especially for the price you can pick these things up on. Now my 06 Carrera s cab I got for 56000 cdn cost me another 10000 cdn to get up to par but hey its a nicer car!!!!

$ 21500 is what it cost me to import one from the detroit where I bought it off a dealer!!!!!!! It may have been $21500 plus but it was under $22000 cdn that is for sure.
The dollar is at $1.03 right now. They dont want these damn things sitting on the lot at a detroit car dealer..
I really think I was lucky got it at the right time. You could get A 03 at Copart for probably $17500 cdn though all fixed and ready to go taxes and all in the country with plates..

I wonder if a guy from the US who wants to move his car fast would be willing to drive it up to Canada for a buyer. I think I could avoid all the border expenses, and can offer him extra for his car.

I Have A 2005 Nissan 350z Roadster With 12,000 Miles On It, Touring Edition Redline For Sale Here In The States, I Would Be Willing To Export It To Canada, Im Selling It For Only 23,000, Anybody Interested? Of Course, The Money Transfer Would Be Sketchy, But There Is A Way To Do A Safe Transaction For Both Of Us.
Thanks

I've heard of this before, it's legal as long as the duty, gst, and border fee has been paid already prior to crossing the border. But this is rare situation as no seller in the US would normally be desperate enough to drive the car up here for selling.
It's not legal to have the seller drive the car up and cross the border with the "vacation or business" reason and then sell it. The car will still be registered in the states, and you can't registered a US vehicle in Canada if it hasn't been transferred prior to crossing the border.
