Sketchy Dealership - 401 Dixie Nissan?
was reading the news online and came across this vid from silverman helps:
http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_14878.aspx
coles notes:
- customer took her z in for service and left it overnight
- someone at the dealership drove the z home and back the next day on the 407 (+50 km's)
the dealership claims they did nothing wrong, but there's so many red flags with this situation and sounds so sketchy if you ask me. the customer did complain of a rattle (which required a test drive by a service technician) but that doesn't give the dealership the right to take the car home and bring it back the next day +50 km's. if i left my z overnight for service, i expect it to be sitting in a secured lot ON PREMISES ... not with *someone* who's probably joy riding the car after work.
and wouldn't the person who took the car KNOW that she would get a bill for the 407 charges after they drove the car home and back? that's just plain negligence. the only logical explanation i can see with that is if the person who drove the car tried using a dealership transponder but the 407 system didn't recognize it and just charged the plates as it scanned through. this raises 10 more red flags.
either way, i'm never going to 401 dixie nissan EVER. i don't see how they can reconcile all these red flags with any logical explanation.

i see the wrinkles setting in on her...hahaha.
but yea, road testing on the 407 is pretty retarded. Lucky this place is no where near my house.

Its not right.
Wonder what my insurance company would say if that Nissan dealership damaged my car or got into a major accident while out touring around?
My insurance were pretty specific on asking if i was the only driver and wanted to make sure my kids never got behind the wheel once they get there licence because i would not be covered.
No one drives my car now after my insurance wows.

^^ definately not right smasher. i have a friend who works as a apprentice at a nissan dealership and he told me that standard test drives require no more than 5-10 km's and definately not on the friggin' toll route 407 :|
besides, who gives permission to have someone in service drive their car home with them after work? yes, cuz they're THAT hard working and are troubleshooting a customer car after hours at home *insert sarcasm*
either way, just wanted to give you guys a heads up, especially you smasher, god knows what they would do with your z if you left it overnight

^^ I stopped by the alta dealership...they said because I requested it to be fixed instead of them confirming if it was indeed rear axle problem. Thats why I wasn't covered for the rear axle repair.
The thing is....I just got my car...I looked like a lost puppy and still do haha and I told them I just got the car and "i think" i have a problem with my rear axle and this might be it(showing them the tsb). Not once did they ask me to see if they could inspect it and to confirm.
Bastards imma see if I can fight this and get it on the news too! they are playing on fine legal lines of communication and using that to loop hole through what the customer can do legally back at that dealership.

^^ you may want to first find the exact tsb # for your problem and ask the client service manager to reimburse you. if they are not receptive, ask for the contact information of the regional manager or the # of the regional office where you can forward a complaint/issues to.

I do not like 401 Dixie Nissan at all. They were very sketchy when servicing my old maxima. Another friend has taken his maxima there for service, and they actually scraped one side of it against the building and had to end up repainting the car (which is ususally never as good as oem). Yet again, another friend has seen them rip cars around the parking lot. into service bays. Personally I trust no dealership other than myself to work on my own car.
I hear you! I do my own work as well. just bought my car about 2 months ago and did the oil change. Found half of the plastic guard bolts missing. One of screws was broken and embedded in the frame. Have to figure out how to take that out now. Any ideas? When I pulled the guard off 2 cig butts fell out.
The Nismo CAI filter was put on backwards so I had to take out the entire intake do clean the filter. Now I dont have to do that which is good (the clamp is in the correct direction now).
I took my car (and paid a 100 bucks) to a nissan dealership for a check prior to purchasing it. ....Hummm....check???

The only concern I have is that if you do your own work, it is more likely to have warranty voided...
I went to Nissan for the first couple of months for maintenances and I began to find some things wrong with the car and had a couple stuff done under warranty only to find it they did it improperly. I do my own work now... But I can't replace a stupid fuel tank though... Might have to take it back to nissan again... :S
