BTW, who installed your APS TT kit and who tuned it? Anyone around the GTA?

Thanks!

Thanks guys,
I can always paint it later if I get tired of the full carbon look but the pics dont really do it justice IMO. I'm still thinking about installing the Areocatch hood pins. I have them so.....

Next Level Automotive did the APS install and all the other parts from the Stoptech brakes to the Tein suspension etc... I am very pleased with there service.

DL MotorSports Did my tune and Dyno. All is good.

Great, that's good to know. I went to see Marco Passante at Magnus for mine. He had the tuning tools (proprietary), but it didn't work out very well; in the end, he didn't do much to the tune... What did DLM do?

You are still using the Unichip, aren't you? How much boost and what HP?

Thanks again!

Magnus should be pretty good for turbo tunning..My friend used to have a blue 900hp+ Rx7 tuned by magnus. Thats why I always assume Magnus is hardcore when it comes to turbo

Madelinot,

DL didnt have to do to much tweeking. 3rd or 4th pass we got 390whp and 377lbs of tourqe @ 9lbs boost. It was up to me at that point, do I want to try making futher adjustments for more power of leave as is and keep it safe for the block. Running in the Safe zone was important to me. Yes running with the Unichip.
I'm running with the stock Cats and the HKS Exhaust right now.
I think I will add some Berks Hiflow cats next year and might schedule a second tune just in case the air fuel map is off.

I see you have test pipes. From what I here a few other guys running test pipes and a 3'' exhaust can get you +80-100whp. What's numbers are you getting and boost?

A little history: I installed the TT kit myself and ran my car for about one year with the stock exhaust and stock tune at 8psi. I'm guessing the car was making close to 380whp back then. It was really good, but I got used to it quickly. Then I installed the APS 2.5" TD exhaust and test pipes. Man, did the car ever woke up. I was instantly boosting almost 11 psi and it ran really really strong. I was probably close to 480whp, still on the stock block, but I also wanted to keep it at a safe level, so I had it tuned back down to about 9psi by GRD in Chicago. That's when I went to Toronto to see Marco and my car dynoed 449whp (Spring 2006). I had it tuned down some more for safety (by GRD again) and now boosting around 7.5psi for 415whp. I ran 12.5 @ 115mph two weeks ago with poor traction off the line.

If you're getting test pipes, be prepared to release a lot more power and be needing a retune for sure. I know I got at least 80-100whp with just test pipes and exhaust (without a tune), but I didn't want to risk blowing up the engine, which would have certainly happenned.

But I have some big plans for next year: I already have a built engine at home (Pauter rods and Arias pistons), with a complete fuel system (AAM+CMJ), injectors, different actuators for the turbos, etc, etc.. I plan on doubling the boost to 16-17 psi and getting close to 580-600whp. We shall see...

Later,

Yes, that's what I thought too, but he had limited experience with the Unichip...

Very cool. That built Eng sounds exciting. I would like to get a built eng as well. The 4.2 Stroker and cosworth heads sound like a nice package but so is the price buy the time you add in the new stand alone eng managment, fuel system, etc.. Like you I would like to see 600+WHP if I go for it. A lot of Cash though. I need a less expensive but quality solution.
