I have a Nismo CAI and had the same issue. The Nissan dealer mentioned to me that oil should not be applied since it may cause the mass airflow sensor to malfunction. So I just wash it, let it dry and install. I am assuming that the filter has some type of material which will cause the dirt particles to adhere to it without the use oil.

I've never not oiled an air filter. I've always been under the impression that it's the oil that traps most of the particles and not the filter itself.

I have said a dozen times in here.....If you have a reusable filter that requires oil, If done correctly (and that is very simple) has no adverse effect on sensors. Period.

I have also said---If you dont oil the filter, you might as well throw it in the street. An unoiled filter IS NOT a FILTER.

Some filters come pre oiled. I believe Fujita does this with their filters.

All reuseables do---after that it is your responsibility to clean and reoil yourself.

If they didnt, people would be installing unfiltering filters and sueing the manufacturer
