Nice driving, I'd like to make it to Shannonville once this summer but might be tough this summer. We have one baby and are expecting another this summer. They should be ~ 14 months apart developmentally. We will be busy.

No more arm cubby thing. I wanted to do this in carbon as it had a slight curve in it and I wanted to see how Lexan worked out as a mold. Turned out well. The mold release is a pain to take off though.

Haha don't worry, I'm more worried about how I am going to mount it. I'm hoping I can make it easy enough that I can install it at the track easily.

27.4 pounds came off the Z today.
She's getting down to fighting weight slowly but surely.

268.8 lbs off w/o passenger seat
222.8 lbs off w passenger seat.

I'm thinking by the time I'm done she's gonna weigh in at less than 3000.
If she didn't I would be dissapointed and would start stripping more.

 

Splitter wrapped in fiber. Needs trimming.




Next is the rear diffuser. Maybe someday my house will stop smelling like epoxy.

PPS I am on page 50 of the 1st book!

 

Lots of trial and error. The path to perfection is laid with expensive mistakes... Oh and lots of free time helps lol. My work involves a lot of downtime.


The books are good eh. Easy to read for something pretty technical.

 

If any of you guys are still faster than me this year, I have a secret weapon. Just got finished in wind tunnel testing, not even F1 engineers have worked it out.

Rob , what did you used for the splitter core ?

if the weather is good tomorrow Im starting the carboard splitter template !
I ordered 2 sheet of alumalite but they are infact alumacor 10mm

 

Core is Oak. Technically Balsa wood would have been better as it bonds to resins better, but I have no idea where to get it.

Aluminate is a good material to use. A lot of guys run just that, it takes a little more abuse than plain wood. No idea what its like to work with though. There are some honeycomb options out there they use in aircraft, but I have heard mix reviews. Kognition uses a foam core now

Heres how the general shape works on mine. It gives enough room for the wheels to turn (the OEM ones anyway, i'll be pissed if the 265 tires dont lol), and goes back to just past the oil pan I believe. Right near frame.

Goal is to mount it twice at the back, twice near the front but wide, probably to the rad support, and then have two support rods go from the very front through the bumper, and attach to the crash bar (actual bumper). Thats the plan anyway.

Does that put you in SS or UC? The way I read the rules were you would be jumping to UC by dumping the seat.

the few time that I review the rules with CSCS is that if I remove the passenger seat , the car fall in SS class

in street class rules says that the passenger seat cannot be entirely removed

so installing solid subfram bushing......

got stuck .75 inches in. lol. it's just sitting there with 2 inches to go.

 

I thought you had to freeze the bushing to make it fit?
