With brackets it came to 240grams. Stock was 6.1lbs. Actually a fun project, I learned a lot.

I picked up some vinyl stripping to make an "air dam" with, but it looked pretty ghetto when I put it on. Even I have my limits.

Will have to find something though. Went for a drive today and at high speeds something was flapping in between.

Car is still street worthy, ill be driving it to the track. Since the bumper is on quick release, its literally 2mins to swap the headlights out.

Have you driven with it yet? I had mine out and at about 80km something started 'flapping'. I think it was some plastic somewhere with air in between the bumper and splitter. Something has to go in between but I don't know what yet.

I have a month to find 85lbs. I wonder how hard it is to pull the quarter windows out.

.
yup I drove about 80-100kms with it.
THe splitter is still on the car for a little while , a lot of people are raising an eye looking at it ! hehehe...

it seem to be holding alright
2x 3/8 bolt are holding the far back
then 2 side bracket bolted to the bumper beam to the splitter & bumper
1 bolt on each side beside the 2 side bracket that attach the bumper to the splitter
then 2 front adjustable rod

i doubt having any problem as I can even stand in the middle or on the side (190lbs !!!)

mine's pretty flimsy without the front rods (maybe 100lbs flexes an inch), I wouldn't take it on the 401 quite yet. I have all the hardware I've just be distracted. Im pretty sure Ill need to take it to the track once more before competition to make sure I haven't ruined the car.

I think if you can stand on it you will be ok

Taking a trip to composites Canada on Saturday, and need to decide how much fabric to bring home.

Fenders - 5 yards
rear hatch - 9 yards

resin/fabric works out to be about $80/yard. ugh, how much is weight worth!

Front fenders are good for about 25-30lbs. Hatch probably 70lbs (will be just a skin with pins).

haha well I'll know by tomorrow. They are steel though, not aluminum. I've heard the roof skin is 18lbs (also steel). If they are less than 10lbs I won't bother replacing them.

Rear hatch is 50lbs without glass. Add on the glass, the struts, the latch system, and its probably close to 70 or 80.

1) can i pay you to make me a skin?
2) if not, or if it's too expensive right now can you post up a detailed DIY for your process so I can make one myself later?

if it comes out well, and is strong enough with 3-4 layers (the headlights came out really well at 3) and I am happy with it, I will make a 2nd one for you

After measuring again I think it might only be about 6 or 7 yards of fabric, so it will probably cost around $500 or so. As long as you sand or paint it yourself :P
