Default wash vs Krown vs electronic rust proof

After buying the Z and having the dealer try to sell the electonic rust control .. and reading all the cons out there . i think this may not be as good as it seems ..

Krown .. has been around for ages .. and ppl like it

For me .. I always wash my cars .. on a routine

but .. whats your opinion .. with washing .. is Krown or Electonic worth it.

DONT DO IT!!!

hahah, jp..

If I were forced to choose one, I guess it would be the electric system. This way your not spraying oil or synth sealants all over the place.

I would not bother with any of them unless you are keeping the car for 6 or more years. I have always used Rust Check on my trucks, the last one was 16 years old with no rust. The 97 GMC Z71 I have has been done with RC since new and no rust.

As far as Electronic Rust Control, you would be better buying 649 Lottery tickets with the money.

Buy a beater. You'll save money with the reduced gas consumption and the bare minimum insurance you'll be paying. Besides, you won't look cool driving your Z in the snow, believe me I tried it .

I say Krown. Their stuff is really good. Krown once a year and wash/rinse it as often as you can.

I dont believe in the electric modules either.

Dont park indoors too. The warmer temperatures activate the salt.

Can you still wash and rinse with rustproofing on? I normally use coin power wash, I'm scared that the power wash will peel off the rust proofing.

^ I think the power wash washed away your entire car haha
Sorry man I could not resist Hope you get another Z

Don't think you can wash it off unless your spraying inside the door panles or under the car etc.. and it resists water. They apply this stuff in areas you don't normaly wash not outside painted parts. Plus I would be carefull spraying my Z with any Hi power wash not to get to close with the nossel. If I was winter driving I would definetly get rustcheck or some other comparable protection. I had Rustcheck on a 86 Nissan Pulsar. Only had one application and didn't see any rust in 8 years since new and 285K. Still washed the car every week though. Now I wash my ZR nearly every day in the summer but its the only car I wash LOL. Cars don't seam to rust like they did in the 70's-early 80's. I think its better metal and not all that recycled stuff.

I have one of those CDN tire electronic things and was going to put it on but didn't get around to it yet. These things must do something to help. The hipe and web site looks good. I think you need to make sure its installed well so there is proper conductivity in that stick on connector they supply.

When I got my rust check done they told me to avoid the automated car washes that spray the underside. Apparently they use a lot of pressure which causes the undercoat to become more susceptible to the elements.

I go to touchless washes and get the basic wash which does not spray the underside.

So basically you can rustproof it and power wash it as long as you dont wash the underside. Sounds good.

So this is my verdict. Rustproof + Powerwash + Electronic rust module = ultimate ftw

Washing the car in the winter to much is a good way to speed up any rust issues. Salt is only corrosive when it is melted when it is below freezing it wont harm things. So I would recommend not putting it in a garage and not washing it unless it is warm out.

But the best way is not to drive it in the winter.

The shop I deal with also owns a bodyshop and they had a car in 05 Mazda 3 with about 35k on it in for front end collision and the rear 1/4 panel both sides were rusted bad, and the car was equiped with the electronic modual.
