dealership in the United States, and which is registered
in the U.S. and normally operated in the United States
(including Alaska and Hawaii), the United States territories

■ This warranty is generally transferable from the original
‘owner other than a Nissan dealer’ (OWNER) to
subsequent owners of the vehicle at any time ownership of

void if during the first six months after delivery to the original
OWNER: (1) ownership of the vehicle is transferred from
the original OWNER, and (2) the vehicle is registered
outside of the United States.

So, it seems, it's not a problem if you are buying new from dealer, because you would the original owner. It says that the warranty is void when you sell it to another person AND the vehicle is register outside the U.S. It does not say "OR", therefore, the warranty should be fine on new "first owner" Nissans.

I asked Nissan North America and here is the response:
So, in short: if you want to keep warranty coverage, buy only used cars that have been registered in the U.S. for at least 6 months.
That sucks as I was hoping to get a new 2008 350Z.
Thank you for contacting Nissan North America, Inc. and allowing us the opportunity to be of assistance. To answer you question about exporting vehicles made to conform to U.S. standards to Canada, there are certain conditions that need to be met before we can establish if warranty coverage is applicable or voided.
When a Nissan Division vehicle is purchased in the United States and then exported to Canada, warranty coverage continues if:
a) the vehicle is first registered in the U.S., and
b) transfer of ownership and registration outside the U.S. do not BOTH occur within 6 months of being first registered in the U.S.
The vehicle must be registered in the United States first. (even if the customer takes the vehicle back to Canada the same day)
Registered in the U.S. = U.S. license plates issued to a U.S. address by a U.S. state.
Examples:
If the vehicle is first registered in the U.S., the vehicle may then be immediately re-registered in Canada and warranty coverage continues UNLESS the vehicle?s ownership is also transferred within 6 months of original purchase.
Sample scenario:
A Canadian flies to Florida to spend the winter and purchases an Altima. The Dealer registers the vehicle in Florida for the customer, who then drives it back to Canada 4 months later and registers it in Quebec. The vehicle?s warranty is perfectly good because it was first registered in the United States, and ownership has not been transferred within 6 months of purchase.
If you have any further comments or concerns, please feel free to e-mail us again or contact our Consumer Affairs department at 1-800-647-7261 and refer to your file number.
Thank you for taking the time to write to Nissan North America, Inc.

Yes, it worked out well since the car was originally registered in mid Oct '05 and I imported May 6, 2006 -- only two weeks grace ![Smilie](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
It was a great deal -- only 5500 mi on the odo -- Total cost, sitting in my driveway, was CDN$31k after taxes, duty, inspections, DRL install, etc.
Local dealer was selling 2004 US imports for $39k TNIP at the time.
