Default Boomerang Tracking

I've been using a boomerang tracking device for the last 6 years. I mainly got it because I was driving an Integra Type R (limited production) and these cars had a high stolen car rate. I transferred it into my Z two years ago and have been paying a yearly subscription of 180 dollars. I'm now at a point where Boomerang is switching from analog to digital and they want me to pay for the upgrade. I feel they should cover the costs. Is this service really worth it at the end of the day? I hate to get rid of it then have my Z get stolen.

Thoughts/Suggestions?

Yes... but many times bommerang will recover the vehicle soon after it is reported stolen. Thus, busting the person or chop shop that has possession of the car. Reason I had it on the Type R was because their was no guarantee that I could get another one because of low production numbers for that particular vehicle.

Type R's have a high stolen rate because literally, there is not one piece on the car you can't sell or put on another Honda. There's no demand for Z parts. The worst thing I can see happening is someone puts your car on bricks to jack your wheels. Other than that, I wouldn't worry too much.

anti-theft devices like a car alarm or vehicle tracking is more for the individual's peace of mind if anything. sure, it'll deter the novice car theif, but for the pros if they want your car, they'll get it somehow.

and it's similar to buying home insurance. no one buys it because they expect to use it, but when you're caught without it, you're going to always say to yourself .. "i wish i had paid the x $$$ for the service"
