Default Concern....

Hey guys, I was cleaning my rims yesterday, and the front rims collect a lot of grime dirt. While the rears stay clean. And I mean a lot of dirt. Not sure whether this is normal with rear wheel drive cars. Or is it something I should be concerned about. Its a lot of black grime, so I am thinking its break dust?!

Any insight would be wonderful.

Yes, it's brake dust. Clean it frequently, or it'll get baked on to your rims.

Rear does not brake as much as front, hence the front has more dusts

LoL! its brake dust.. You will need to clean them on a regular.

Change out your oem pads. I went with EBC greens, most choose to go with Hawk pads.

My next switch will be to the Nismo pads.

if you want to balance out the dirt, try using your handbrake on a regular basis as your braking system

^^ we have shoe type e-brake on our z bro. dust will be trapped in the inside of the rear rotor (drum area) so pbbly wont see much shoe's dust on the rear rims ...

n this is normal for all make cars, see MB n bimmer they have the same prob. manufacturer usually use more aggressive pads in the front, which they worn out faster but its give better braking

Wheel wax wont do much.. The brake dust will actually stick to the wax.. At least thats what happened to me.

The only real solution is to switch out pads & wash weekly..

haha, pm'ed before this thing goes WAY off topic.

edit:

If you dont' like brake dust AND don't track, Hawk HPS are awesome pads for the street..next to no dust and performs just fine for the streets.
