^^ perhaps, or maybe they are too "comfortable" in terms of their client base, so they don't try that hard anymore to produce quality work.

And then they start loosing their customers because of it.
I hate that it is so damn hard to find good shops for the work we need done.

Drove by Velocity this morning - I saw a Black Z with Time Attack's this morning....your front bumper was missing...

I hope you get the right one back!

Realistically I don't see the shop resolving Mike's problem for two reasons. One, that they can claim they were holding on to his parts because Mike could not take them home, and so it was a favor, and if they messed up they regret doing so, but cant do anything about it. Second, it would be way too expensive for them to buy new pieces for Mike from the dealer.

I am by no means defending their Fukup. I would just be amazed if any shop actually resolved a matter like this. Seems like too expensive of a mix up for them to care enough to resolve.

I have to say though, Mike's email proposing a resolve is more than fair. But I would be going there in person, more effective when you are talking eye to eye.

Why would you be amazed if a shop did the right thing?....

Its really quite simple, they f*kd up so they should have to pay for it.. Mike paid for the paint job and installation.. so now he has to pay for new parts?
..

Velocity = FAIL

slightly off-topic, but related to our discussion, when i went to get my alignment done last week, the shop that did my alignment apparently cracked another customer's rear tail light. after the customer complained and showed the damage to the owner, the owner decided to replace the entire rear tail assembly free of charge.

so it is possible for shops to do the right thing, it's just a matter of who you're dealing with and how customer service oriented they are and whether they own up to their mistakes.

I would be amazed because the majority of shops don't fork out the cash when they *** up like this. They always come up with an excuse. I guess I have little faith in these shops. For me its not a matter of finding what shop is not sketchy, but just to what degree they are sketchy.

I have yet to find a shop that is 100% honest and true to their work. I guess i'm still waiting to find one, if it ever exists. Though I think its like finding a unicorn - fantasy land.

All shops make mistakes because nobody is perfect 100% of the time, but its how they handle these mistakes that will set them apart from the rest.
And we all know which side of the coin velocity is on.....

I have experience with two shops that come very close to this..
1-Speedstar
2-Advanced Powerhouse/Turbotech

I am almost 100% certain that either shop would make good on resolving any issues that may have come up as a result of them performing maintenance/upgrades on a customers vehicle.

And I am 100% sure that they would not loose parts....

I do highly recommend either shop. Edward@advanced powerhouse is quite close to your location, IIRC.

I'm guessing velocity gets too much business from other car communities...wonder what would happen if this was posted on the acura/honda car forums ;p

Definitely agree with Church's two shops but I've had more experience with Speedstar. You pay a shop to work on your car right - something doesn't quite turn out how you expect it to be and that's where the shop shows its true colours. MISTAKES HAPPEN in every field, we're only human.

Speedstar definitely showed their true colours and showed me what a good shop can do to set things right.

Yea, basically, you're looking for a place that puts pride in their work ahead of lining their pockets. I'm pretty sure that a place like that is rather rare, but I do believe that there are a few out there. I know quite a few individuals that would prefer the right to point at a really baller car and say "I built that!" vs having a lot of $ in their pocket.

I know you're saying Powerhouse Amuse cause they're JDM and they're more than awesome, but Ed's place is called Advanced Powerhouse/TurboTech.

I was at DMCC today. Derek and his R-Squadron group was there. I was talking to Derek about Velocity. Guess what, pretty much all the members of R-Squadron got their paint job done at Velocity. I checked them out personally, and it's pretty much a flawless job. No orange peel, no mis-alignment, no overspray, etc...

I'm talking about Derek's 350Z, Mike's G35, FD, GTi, S2k... All done at Velocity.

I know it's spring and a lot of people might be looking for a bodyshop.
So thought I would bump up this thread so newbies can give it a look over.
