Hey, introduction+ sob story
Hi guys,
So I'm 95% sure I'm buying a 350z in feb or march so just thought I'd introduce myself to what seems to be the pre-eminent Z forum. Last weekend I was driving back in my modified e36 328 and it was pouring rain. Girlfriend sees an animal and grabs the wheel, car starts sliding, goes into the grass, and flips over. total write-off plus insurance won't cover. Moral, girlfriends, keep your damn hands off the wheel. Unless you're really hot, in which case you can pretty much do anything and kind of get away with it. As mine is.
Anyway, in order to save myself from replies like 'search function noob'!!!, I did my research before posting, and I figure a 2004.5 and up would be my best bet. Couple questions though-do the grand tourings and the track models have the same ratio 6 speed 'box? Also, because my initial plan was to buy an M3 (but it was murderous on insurance cause I'm under 25) I'd like to see an increase of hp to around 320 at the flywheel, so does cai, plenum, pulleys, true dual exhaust, and software sound adequate for this? Finally, I really like how the nismo bodykit looks like a slant nose 930 Porsche, what bodykits would replicate this and where can I find one that's similar? Thanks guys.

Hey welcome to the forum..
Sorry for your E36, glad you turn out ok as for the Z as long as they are all 6MT they should have the same gear ratio. If you want HP, get a 2007, you get like 300+ right out of the box with the HR engine..since you mentioned the nismo bodykit looks like a slant nose 930 prosche, then i assume getting the nismo kit would replicate that????

thanks for the welcome guys! definitely, a nismo kit would replicate what I want, sorry that question was phrased so poorly. I know that nismo stuff is pricey (as it should be, the quality on the stuff is top-notch), so I was wondering if something for less money would do the same? As for the individual who told me about his friends car, that def seems like a great deal, but I can't afford to buy a car right off-I need to finance it
far be it from me to pretend I'm one of those under 25's who can buy a car all by themselves without their parents help. I just started my first job in Jan '08 and I poured all my money into my E36, so financing the zed is my only option.

insurance won't cover because
a. I didn't have collision
b. Even if I did, apparently one can't swerve for an animal, crash and get covered. One has to run the animal over, and insurance will cover for damage.
I guess the latter (definitely not the former, that was stupid on my part) makes sense. If you were driving drunk and you just drove off the road and screwed your car up, you could just drive away and call the insurance later and say that an animal made you swerve. They would prefer to see the physical evidence I guess.

sucks, i would have back-handed that ho,
anyway some people have dynoed at like 250 or 260 which is probably over 300 at the crank with plenty of NA mods without having to go in the engine.
