i understand the procedure is not difficult, but i just dont have the time to take day(s) off to do all of this. if i could do it myself i would definitely attempt; but fact is i do not which is why im looking for help from a separate company.
350zJim, do you happen to have the contact for Plaff leasing?

No thats not true. Pfaff will do leasing on anything you want. If you bought a car (anything) they would buy it from you and lease it. Well not anything has to be of a certain value etc but anything within reason that is.

Even if you don't buy the car through them. My buddy made the deal for a 911 in Maine. He wired the money himself to the guy to complete the sale. Once the guy got the money, Pfaff had a truck show up and pick the car up. It was brought over the border and dropped off at Pfaff leasing. They then paid my buddy for the car and leased it to him and did all the registration etc. It was a piece of cake really. I think he paid around $2000 in total for his.
With the dollar and the $2000 you could find an FD here. Call Marco at Magnus he will know guys selling FDs in the area. I have known Marco for a lot of years and he knows A LOT of people. If somebody is selling an FD he will know about it.
Otherwise whats wrong with these two cars listed in the trader today?:
1993 MAZDA RX-7 $13,500. 101,000km
1993 MAZDA RX-7 $13,000. 75,000km
If you buy an FD from the US, it will have to be REALLY cheap to make it worth while. Even at $8000 purchase price USD thats gonna add up.
$8000 x 1.23 (exchange) = $9876 x 1.13% tax (you pay both) $11,159.88 + $2000 transport $13159.88. You will need to add on cost of paperwork and misc charges at the border etc. So really the car would have to be $6000 to make it worth while to import it here. Sooo. with all that said, why in the world would you bother importing a $6000 car?
