Default what are the chances this guy will get away with this?

So, this guy tried to run with 770 dollars I sent him through paypal. After 25 days and no tracking number I disputed the charge in paypal, and its given him till the 14th to respond and he hasn't yet. He used to be a vendor on ebay (altho I made my transaction off ebay) and now he's removed himself from being a registered user. I was just wondering, if he takes all his money out of his bank account and starts a new one somewhere else, will Paypal still be able to get my money back?

If anything fly out there and beat him within an inch of his life. He wont know who did it and you'll feel better - the cost will be worth it.

Oops I didnt say that out loud.

Good luck dealing with Paypal, really.

They are good until something goes wrong. My advice would be to do everything you can with paypal first, (which will get you no where) then take it directly to your credit card company afterwords.

If its only been 25 days dont wait any longer and contact your bank account or credit card (whichever you used) for a chargeback. DO IT RIGHT NOW I TELL YA! Dont even try dealing with paypal they suck. Like seriously call your funding source right now and file a chargeback.

okay, I called my card company and they said they'd created a note on the account and to call back on the 14th if there was no word from paypal. Paypal told me that the guy has until the 14th to respond to the dispute otherwise they'd 'return the funds to the rightful owner'..which would be ME. Its not even like the guy has responded to my emails saying that he's shipped it out. He pretty much freely admitted that he hadn't a couple weeks ago, and no emails since, and since he's obv avoiding paypal's dispute notification, I have high hopes

Seriously take our advice and DO NOT trust paypal. If you search around paypal rarely ever gets money back. Just file chargeback. Its much easier and you cut out the middle man (paypal) Your just wasting time if you think paypal will get your money back

that's not good. Call back and file a chargeback right *now* in my opinion, if you wait until the 14th and the rep magically "forgot" to add that note on to your account, and you're beyond the 30 day period .. then what? then you're out 770$ and they will tell you off, or maybe you'll get lucky and they will ask which rep you spoke with (who can deny the note claim as well)

I would call back, get the name of the rep you speak with, and file a chargeback. they can always reverse the chargeback if the item is delivered so it's not a huge deal to do this as a preventative measure. do not wait until the 14th and call them back..

Honestly. Search up scams. See how many people get screwed with paypal. If that guy closes his account, empties his bank account then where is paypal going to retrieve the funds from? Nilch nada nothing. To be safe just file a chargeback. Dont listen to Kinma then get screwed over.

you've had three scenarios where you've had to pull your money back? I would be a little more cautious with where you purchase.

haha, talk about polarised opinions! Well, I just recalled my credit card company and made sure the note was on there. If anyone see's a vendor called "brake district' or named 'Sam Sin' don't buy from him!

I would really verify that they are still willing to do a chargeback since the 14th is beyond the 30 day time frame most credit card companies will allow for a chargeback, make sure you know who you spoke with so they can't claim ignorance.

nobody wants to be out 770$, yourself, paypal and the credit card company included. if they have to refund you the money they have to hope they can get it back from the scammer and that is not always possible.

sounds like a hassle but I would be 100% certain on my options when it comes to that amount of money. I have little faith in CC companies and paypal, although I've never once had to do a chargeback of any sort over the years and hundreds of online transactions *knock on wood*

yeah the 2nd time I called them, I verified that I could do a chargeback, I said its after the 30 day period, is that okay? They said yes. At any rate, they have me calling in twice within 15 minutes on record...I'm calling again tommorow just to make sure.

okay guys I took your advice and filed a chargeback. They'll credit my account now and the guy has 45 days to file a counter dispute. Thanks for your help.

I have had issues with non delivered goods in the past and PayPal helped me out and I got 100% refund. Maybe I'm only lucky but so far it has worked out well for me.
GL with this.

Right, so paypal sides with you and says, yes you should get your money back.

Uhh hold on, we went to the other guys account and there were no funds, sorry. If he ever puts funds into his account (hahahah right..) we will transfer them to you.

And you are just as screwed then as you are now. You are the rightful owner, broke, but the rightful owner. Good job!
