Are you kidding me? The only reason you'd ever buy a 135i over a 370Z is because of the BMW badge. The 370Z owns the 135i in every aspect if you are looking for a SPORTS car. The 335i is a different story.

Sorry mate. I never meant for it to turn into an argument. I assumed that everyone on these boards was intelligent enough to not go down that path, but unfortunately Kasim has proved me wrong. We should be fine as long as no one responds to his "I LOL'D @ DIS" comments.

Getting back on topic, how come the 370Z's dynamometer readings show 258 WHP when it has a 330 BHP engine?

^22% difference, sounds about right for a FR drivetrain loss.

135i looks like pooh.....IMO. save some money & buy a proper BMW....335i.
if you like HP, why not just get a mustang gt?......it looks just as hideous (IMO) as the 135i but, with a lot more HP.

It's true that a chipped 135i or 335i puts up E92 M3 performance *in a straight line* ... but the comparisons stop there. Start talking about handling and the M3 is in a completely different league from its younger "economy" focussed siblings.

Which begs the quesiton - if all a buyer cares about is straight line performance, why bother with a 350/370z (or a 1/3-series) at all?

Get a Mustang or some other big-block V8 for half the price and call it a day.
missed this post.....agreed 100%.

The 335i Coupe is a nice car, but it just isn't fast enough. The Mustang GT on the other hand is no good unless you've got one of these at home.

370Z suits me just fine.

look at the cool stuff you can do with a 370z ..

fly burnouts ...

dukes of hazzard style jumps off ramps ...

and run from da five-oh ...

you can't do that with a 135i

You guys are comparing apples to oranges. NA V6 to a TT I6. One of which is a 2-seater, the other which is a 2+2. Go compare a 370z to other 2-seaters, not a 135/335.

Yes, the 335i may look nicer, but in terms of features, acceleration and handling, the 135i is it's equal in a smaller package, and 6k less to boot. FYI, I got my 135i 6sp for $100 over invoice relatively stripped down - sport package/heated.power seats/ipod for $35700 pretax... not a demo either! The 135i was definitely not in my price range with typical options at roughly 41-42k, but cutting the premium package, navi, and premium radio got it down to a pricepoint I could afford.

a JB3 equipped N54 with bolt-ons, slicks, and race gas have been running 11's on stock internals. The fastest JB3 equipped N54 ran an 11.8. Now add the $270 I paid for a used JB3 on top of the $35700 + tax, with NO other mods (not even an intake) I'm now capable of running mid 12s and maintaining daily drivability, a back seat and my warranty/maintenance, provided you take the JB3 out for that work. I'd love to see Nissan honor a warranty claim for a 370z with a turbo strapped to its motor... or maintain daily drivability with a turbo kit strapped onto it.

I suppose a more fair comparison would be a G37s vs a 135i. Appearance? G37 is the winner. Performance? 135i by a landslide. Maintenance costs? BMW free maintenance wins. Tunability? 135i again. To get a fair comparison of the prices, I will compare invoice prices. To get a G37S equipped similar to what the BMW comes with standard, I added premium, technology, and rear spoiler to the options on a G37... no navi or Invoice on my 135i? $35600. Invoice on the G37S with comparable options? $39359. Who wins? The 370z is fundamentally the same platform as a G37S in a 2-seater platform with wider tires, but in order to get a true apples to apples comparison, the G37S is the best comparison to go by.

Point here is, it IS possible to find a 135i without all the unnecessary features at which point it trumps the 370z and G37s in price point.

^^ that's nothing new, there's a lot of insecure people who get all defensive when you say something bad about the car they own, but it works both ways.

if you venture into the main forum, there's always some idiot starting a thread because someone "dissed up" their 350z. it's usually a youngin' z owner and something along the lines of "someone called my z gay, is it?" and then he puts a and waits for re-assurance from the community since his identity is somehow tied to his car.
