Opinions on 20 inch wheels
Hey guys,
I can get an absolutely stupid deal on 20 inch wheels for my ZR. But im a little hesitant towards getting them as Im not sure running 30 or 35 series tires on a Z would be the smartest thing to do. I've thought long and hard about it but still cant make up my damn mind. Tires would be wayyyyyy cheaper compared to 19 inch wheels. But at least you have the comfort of a 40 sidewall. I dunno. What do you guys think about 20s on a Z?

arent the streets in Toronto all about potholes ? and large ones? I've only spent 2 weeks there once few years back in middle of winter, and that's all I remember about the streets.
you can go with 20's with beefy tires like 35's in the front, but 30 series don't offer much protection up there. Although 30's in the rear would be slightly less risky.
but I gotta tell ya, the general opinion on what wheel size is right for the Z is 19's are good, 20's noticeably too big, For the G 20's are perfect cuz of those really bulky rear fenders just swallow up an inch or two off any 20 inch wheel.

20s are ok, its a 30 series tire on the 20". Just really be careful around potholes cause a 30 series tire are thin and 20" rims are huge so prone to bending.
If you can get em cheap go for it, but know that you may need to replace em down the road from bends and tires are expensive.

yaaaaa....the more and more I think about it the less 20s look attractive to me. I guess I'll go with some sick *** 19s and bite the damn bullet for tires. I just hate how freakin expensive 19 inch rubber is! lol

True, part of the problem with getting rims is tires, A good price for only 2 tires - 850$ (depending on size) but for all four tires, its another rim set (depending on brand)
Never actually knew, but 20's tires are cheaper then 19's? or whats the deal with that what op stated above^ (my only guess to that would be Supply and Demand, but when tire companies are manufacturing the tires, why not just produce hell lot more 19's, poor management lol)
Good luck though, post your results, curious what your going to end up with.

20 inch rubber is WAY cheaper then 19 inchers. You can almost save about 65 - 70 bucks a tire going with 20's. Thats why its only fair to weigh out all your options. Man, I didn't know picking wheels for this car would involve so much research! lol. But I want to make sure I get it right (offset, size, yadda yadda).
I was thinking of going with some Tenzo-R wheels. They have a great line up right now. Either those or some TSWs. I just cant decide it I wanna go for a nice fat dish on the rear or that sexy BMW concave look. TOUGH.....lol

Good luck though and again, it all depends on your budget. Try and see in the my350z rim/tire sale threads, maybe you will find somthing within your budget

Don't listen to the 20-inch haters rolling on their TEEN-AGE size rims.
I've been driving my 350Z for 3 years on my 20s... they fit the wheel wells perfectly, ride is about the same as my 18s i use on the track and i've had no issues with potholes.... and i drive and live downtown where the roads are pretty crap-tastic.
trust me.... if you get a killer deal on 20s.... you gotta do it.
