I just got a f*cken speeding ticket today coming back from Montreal clocked at 142km. I was just wondering if anyone can give me some good advice or excuses to say in court since im sure everyone here have gotten tickets in the past and i have to drive all the way to cornwall thanks to some redneck cop.

Quote for the BEST EXCUSE EVER!

As for dealing with the ticket, I've gotten quite a few in my time driving in Canada. You're at a bit of a disadvantage here...
You should get a lawyer... a GOOD one.

I got a ticket in Napanee before for 70 over. Got a lawyer, not a cheap one either. Lost the case because
1. It's a small town, there's probably only two OPP's there.
2. It's a small town, there's probably only one judge in 200km radius, and that judge is going to go against you like any other "outsider" of that town.
3. It's redneck.

Didn't even consider my family emergency situation. Ended up getting $800 in fines, Half of the lawyer fee (he lost, price gets reduced to half) and two months license suspension.

I would assume that Cornwall is a similar situation my case as it's also a small town kind of thing.

Just keep fighting it. Reason with them well. And don't give up. You don't want to lose the Z due to high insurance (5 digits) like I did. Best of luck...

At least he wasnt ******* enough to bump it up to 50 over and tak e your car. You could say you had to take a diarrhea ****, was going with the traffic and being it a long road from montreal to toronto, you got used to the speed that you didnt notice that you upscaled your speed to 140 for a small period of time until you saw the lights? GOod luck though

On the side note, i do agree its kind of hard sometimes to control the speed. Almost everytime i get on highway and start speeding up n changing lanes, i hit 140s then i go oh **** and slow down. the pedals are wayy to soft with too much power underneeth (not saying its a bad thing :P)

You can use the ticket guy all of us use at work. About $300/ticket, the 6 of us use him about 2 times a month on average. and we've been using him for years with 100% success.

PM me if you want for his number.
