Default anyone here a lawyer?

I went to buffalo today to pick up my nismo V3 rear bumper. I got a good deal on it and when i came back to the border, i declared it as $80.

The customs pig was asking me where i met the guy i told him on my350z.com and he went online and couldn't find nothing and i got away with it. But he took my phone and started going through it and than he download it to him cpu cuz i had text messages about chronic...lol

So i was just wondering was my rights violated and would i be able to do anything.

didn't you just get a 42 over speeding ticket recently?

perhaps you should find a general practice lawyer and get a 2 for 1 deal

LOL

if you had nothing on you there's absolutely nothing they can do, the most they can do is get a warrant and search your house but they're not likely to go through the trouble to find a j

Can side or US side? Did he take it, or you handed it over?

I've had this happen to friends before by cops. Nothing really ever came of it, your name probably just goes into the system. Next time you cross the border I'd be worried about a cavity search tho

Kidding (mostly) but I would say that next time you cross back into Canada they will be likely to make you pull over to search your car.

Canadian customs are a$$holes. All they do is to tax the *** out of their Canadian residents.

Everyone knows buy in the US is always cheaper than in Canada if you can avoid the Canadian taxes.

That's why these Canadian customs officers are more interested in taxing Canadians coming back into Canada (not just from the US) than anything else. If you really want to bring stuff in, get a US friend and have them visit Canada.

I used to cross the US/Canada border a few times a month. From my experience, the US customs are interested if you are bringing in any dangerous goods that is a security risk. But when coming back from the US, the Canadian customs are only interested to see what you bought and tax you on them.

oh and unless you have receipts to prove that you only paid $80, do you expect them to believe you when you come across the border with a large item like a rear bumper and only declare it at $80?? hahaha .. you just asked to be red flagged kuoyang.

Dam! Self pwnage...

These are the reasons why I purchase locally.. and or pay the brokerage charges when having items shipped from the US..
Sometimes it doesn't pay to cheap out... Some food for thought

lol, ya that makes sense that i got red flagged cuz i got a borla exhaust last time and i told them i got it for $100 and got away with it because they have no proof.

These canadians are literally uneducated hicks, so it's easy to get away with anything unless your buying a car or other high valued item, but im just concerned because i felt my rights were violated when he was going through my phone.

I used live in Windsor and cross the border every day to work in Detroit. These border guards can pretty much do what they want now. Going into the states they can download the files from your computer. A lot of people that have work laptops, with proprietary information, get their info downloaded. I'm not sure if the Canada side does the same thing. But just keep that in mind. Don't bring a laptop across the border unless you have to. Same with cellphones, if there is something on there that can incriminate you then delete it before you cross.

You complain about the people in this country and then cry your rights were violated? That's the stupidest thing i've ever heard. If we're so stupid, you don't need our rights. Get the **** out.

You didn't get away with anything the first time. If you did, you wouldn't be asking for a lawyer this time around. They have it written down for the next guy to give you a hard time. They are going to own you every time you cross that border and there's nothing you can do about it. Pretty smart for some uneducated hicks.

I've never had a problem crossing the border with goods. Probably because I don't play stupid and act like a tough guy. If you're straight up with them and make an attempt to show paperwork and receipts, they'll treat you awesome. The only people who usually have problems are (a) bad liars; and (b) people who play stupid (c) have previously ****ed up by doing A and B.

Good luck crossing the border again.

Ya think you need to read my review better, you ignorant hick. You obviously aren't educated enough to know why i declared the value lower than it is. I've save 15% twice on items that cost over $500....you do the math.

This is helpful to those who have questions about going through the border. As long as im clean, they can't no anything regardless of what it says on file.

Again, those customs are all low lives who never went to college and same with law enforcement consisting of fat red necks like you riding on horses. I do plan on getting the **** out and moving to cali bcuz thats where its at....its not my fault your going to be stuck in canada all your life cuz your some p***y canadian

Sounds to me like you are always declaring full value of the goods you buy outside of Canada and pay all the taxes required.

Personally, I think we canadians pay way too much taxes to the government and there's a lot of waste in tax payer dollars. That's why there are people that likes to take risks buying outside of Canada to avoid paying taxes or pay less by declaring a lower value and I think that's perfectly fine. If you get caught, then too bad, if not, then you save $$.
