Post Safety inspection done on my '06 Z today and it FAIL because of....

the front and rear wiper blades.

No kidding. Even the service lady had to double check with the tech to verify the failed wipers. I laughed at the service lady when she told me my Z failed the initial safety inspection and had to get my passenger side and rear wiper blade rubbers replaced to get a pass and issue the government safety inspection form.

However, I know my wiper blades are still good and I rarely turn them on constantly because I apply RainX every year on the windshield. I personally think it's a cash grab, but since it's only $25, I didn't want to waste my time to argue.

I am buying my Z off lease and had to get safety inspection done for ownership transfer. In case you are wondering, I had it done at Village Nissan, since that's where I got my Z.

I can't imagine how many unsafe vehicles are currently on the road with bad wiper blades. Anyways, I just wanted to share my experience.

LoL@Village*idiots* Nissan..
Congrats ocean

-I would assume that because it was a lease, that he may have had to get the inspection completed at a dealership.

it was a joke. but seriously, doing a safety at a ghetto mechanic is often a good way to ensure passing. You should've seen some of the cars I saw getting safetied at this mech...

I've failed safety inspections for bad wiper blades. That is one of the areas that gets checked. It isn't a big deal and I now make sure I have good wipers before I go for a safety inspection.

I bought my car from a small used dealership. Before buying it I had an inspection done at Alta Nissan in Woodbridge. I think I paid around $80-$100 for the inspection, they said every thing looked good and didn’t need anything to cert. The small dealer I bought from had a $300 certification fee on top of the $150 admin fee. I just bought the car as-is and saved the $300, I used that $300 to go back to Alta. I had all my fluids changed, diff, trany, oil, and cert done for between $200-$300. They discounted the fluids and gave me the cert paper for free. I had a good experience with them.

Also Donner Nissan in Newmarket has been good, installed my locking wheel nuts for free after I bought them and scanned my car and removed the air bag light for free.

I know that Village Nissan has now moved to a new location at Kenndy / 407.

I still remember when I did my safety inspection at Village Nissan, the sales guy kept saying I must get the inspection done at their dealership because I am buying if off the lease.

I think that's BS because it's the same safey inspection form that you get from other shops. The government doesn't care where you get it inpected as long as there's a certified mechanic that signs the safety insepction form.

But you can give Village Nissan a try and report back your experience.

Good luck.
