LOL @ the thought of police actually investigating 1 car that was egged. I'm sure that's at the top of the police's list of things to do. If you can't get it on video or pictures of the people doing it, filing a police report would be nothing but a waste of time. If you found out who did it and rammed a few raw eggs down their throat at least you'd feel some sense of justice. The chances of you going to jail for it would probably be up there with the likelihood of the punks who egged your car in the first place going to jail.

That is true if op wanted to file a claim with his insurance for a small amount of damage to his hood. Wouldn't filing an insurance claim cause your rates to go up? I guess the question is, would it be worth the yearly premium increase to get it repaired?

We're talking about a car being egged. No cops will waste their time looking for a kid that egged your car. You might as well call your mommy and ask for help.

A car being vandalized on the other hand where damages can cost a huge amount of cash is a different story. I may file a police report, but at the end of the day it's not really worth it. Unless you can prove the guy vandalized your car, you can't do **** and neither can the cops. You will end up paying money from your pocket.

His insurance company will most likely need it and the police will have it on file if it ever happens to someone else in the same neighborhood.

The cops will say..."You are lucky that they didn't steal your car." I have been there too many times.
