Default Contemplating an LS swap and parting out my Vortech

Well my sense of humor with my VQ has pretty much run its course. Last night it started to knock. I can't explain the knock. It doesn't seem like a rod knock but I just need to change it up before i completely lose my mind
.
I am still going to do a bit more research into it before I make a final choice but for now everything looks like a go. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

I will get the sikky kit with the wire harness splice. Probably get an LS6 some minor work done to it.

What I will be parting out for sure if i do the swap. None of this has been tracked as that was my plan for this year. If anybody is interested in some or all of this let me know and we can work something out. I go back to china April 4th and return around the 12th of May.
Vortech tuner kit with upgraded Precision intercooler w/ about 8000km
Turbo XS Utec
Autogear fuel rails 2000km
RC 650cc injectors 2000km

Megan test pipes with a bung for aftermarket 02 Sensor 5000km
Scott performance FI cams 5000miles(purchased from another board member and never installed them myself)
Kinetix V2 manifold
ATS Twin Disc Carbon clutch

Possibly also for sale
ARC V1 catch can
ARC radiator cooling panel.

I hate you. I want it, but not right now :P

I might buy your engine though. If I can find somewhere to put it.

I have a storage unit I could probably keep it in for you for a while.

I think a already found a semi built ls6 for the swap. Now I just need a t56 and the kit. I will probably put my tax return towards the swap so hopefully it's done when I am back in may

would love an LS3 but they are pretty hard to find. The LS6 I was looking at turned out to be a truck motor with LS6 heads on it. Might have an LS2 with everything I need though. a friend knows of one in kingston.

Which EMS are you going with?
Who will tune it for you?

This would be a sick swap.. but it won't be an easy road for you..

GL!

haha it hasn't been an easy road so far. Since my vortech install started last summer I have had nothing but trouble. When it worked it worked great but it seemed like something little was going wrong. With the knock I just am throwing in the towel with the vq.
I haven't decided on engine management yet. I have over a month to decide on that. I will get whatever it takes for me to not pull my hair out. My best friend and I will probably do the tune ourselves at on his cousins shops dyno.

The actual install itself doesn't seem too bad. I will probably get m mechanic to pull my vq so I can clean up the engine bay and prepare for the install. The wiring and throttle seem to be the worst parts. I will probably get the sikky kit and depending on a few things either the sikky harness splice or the Hinson harness splice.

From talking to a mechanic friend in orangeville I will be swapping the valvetrain and cams right away. He had less then kind things to say about the factory cams.

I am also thinking about doing this. One of the all aluminum blocks.
Don't know how much money I want to put into the 350Z vs saving for something else.
That's always the balance.

I can't remember if you are NA or boosted. If you are boosted and part out your kit, engine etc it should cover most of the costs. Depending on which engine you decide to go with it can make a huge difference in price. You can pick up an LS1 pullout with trans etc for $2000ish if you look around. I am going to spend the extra $ and get an LS2. For the extra 70hp and tq you gain it is worth the price to me.
