Default Emission test

I just wanted to know if I can pass the emission test after doing the Osiris tune..I kinda don't want to risk doing the test coz if I fail I'm gonna pay even more.. Was thinking of just paying someone to pass me lol..

I did an UpRev tune and emissions were not an issue. I wasn't running high flow cats though.

Not worth paying anyone to pass you as you won't be failing on an Osiris tune. I have Osiris on my car and did the test last year. Now if you have no cats, that's a different issue.

If you can find a shop that will skip the 2nd test because your car is too low, you will pass (you can pass the first test with anything).

But as long as you have OEM 3way cats you should pass either way.

hard to say without knowing the tune and other factors as well as the make/design of the HFC. i know guys who had them that passed, other guys with them have failed.

take a chance - i would say go do it and let us know. to stack the results in your favour try and get them to do the 2-step idle test rather than the rolling rack. usually the 2step idle test is automatically done when the customer's car is too low to go onto the rack.

HFCs are usually 2way, and will not pass in ontario (my berks failed by quite a bit). If you can convince them to only do the idle test, you will pass, since the tolerances for that are so high.

slam your car do the ground and they'll do the idle test My Z had always been doing the idle test.

if you want to pass for sure, just install the oem cats back for the test, then swap back the HFCs once you pass the test.

Sadly I can't slam my car to the ground because then i'd be leaving pieces of it on the street (literally). I need to have my car usable in downtown TO.

So it'll likely fail e-test if I change to HFC's... Damn, wonder what the point is then. So you've passed a few times now with HFC's after slamming it?

even if you are lowered some they typically won't chance it and do the 2step idle test. i'm not slammed like some people, if you look at my sig below thats my drop...you can still see daylight on the other side lol, they took one look and said f that.

i know some guys who put on some removable front lips that hang really low so it won't make it up the ramp...then remove it later...thats a bit extreme, but hey it works lol

Jon,
I passed with Berk HFC's. Take your z out for a 20-30 min blast on the highway and get those 300 cell cats blazing hot.. then get your emissions test completed.

mine wasn't slammed, just lowered with a body kit. it had like 3-4" of ground clearance? The ramp to get the car up on the rollers is really steep, so he drove it up to the ramp, looked at it, and just said he's gonna do the idle test.

I didn't have HFCs when I had the car.

You should pass no problem with HFC if you follow the advice already given.

Find a place that has steep ramps so you only do the idle test
Make sure the cats are nice and warm.
Ensure the car does not have any other issues and a good tune.

My Berks are 3 years old and passed last year with all the eng mods.

I'd need to get one with a steep enough ramp that can't fit a G35C on stock exhaust then with no OEM lip.

So Reality, you did the regular test and passed after a highway boot or just the idle test?

With respect to 'Emissions Test Facilities' - can anybody recommend a decent shop that takes care of our Z's?

i.e. Don't want to take it to CDN Tire etc..
