Default winter wheels for Z

hello,
can someone tell me what kind of winter wheel options are for the Z coupe non Track? Can a 17" fit? Does Nissan carry 17" steelies? Or it has to be alloys? thanks!

Infinity has 17" steelies which will work on the Z. Or, you can go some real purty 16" rims like the ones on my car.

Where did you find those steelies? I tried Tire Rack and they said 16's will not fit over brakes. I would even go with 17" steelies if I could find them.

No Brembo's but I tried a set of 16" aluminum wheels I had from my Lexus IS 300 and they worked fine on the back but would not fit the front. Still trying to figure out if I can use 16's because I've got a good set of Blizzaks and would prefer not to have to buy new wheels and tires!

16" steelies will fit - call your Infinity dealership. If they don't have it, call my local one at 613-749-3501.

BTW, for you Brembo owners, Inifinity has a 17" steelie set that fits over the G35 coupe 6MT Brembo equipped cars as well.

Surprisingly well actually. I drove my 12 second twin turbo RX-7 year round for several winters and it worked good to.

I was a little curious how the 350 would do with so much torque but the VDC does a great job keeping it under control.

I also went with particularily narrow tires (215s) to ensure even better traction. Absolutely lousy performance handling but that's not what they're designed for...

There's considerable discussion in the main forum about keeping the stagger on the 350Z for the VDC and ABS systems to function properly. As far as I can gather, Nissan requires btwn 0.5-0.75inch with obviously the rear being higher than the front. If some guys are fitting the same size tires all round, you would assume this is going to cause problems, assuming of course that Nissan aren't just spinning a line. This could be more of an issue for us Canadians since our vehicles come std with these electronic wizardry whereas the base US vehicles don't.
Anyone got any experience/opinions on that?
I am currently looking around for a wheel/tire package before old man winter hits the streets of Toronto. Anyone got any good tips where to get a good deal?

If there's someone who's had experience running non-stagger, it's me. I've run all last winter non stagger with zero issues. VDC worked fine, and pretty much every day. I've also Solo2'd all summer on non-stagger and again zero issues (although I disable VDC), the same setup on the street worked fine with VDC.

Should one run a smaller rear tire though, then apparently the system freaks out.

Infinity dealership actually provided the non-stagger setup which was originally designed for their G35 sedans and coupe (most of them have VDC as well I believe). If there was an issue, I'm sure they'd be aware of it. Think of the spare rear tire to (smaller in diameter). I doubt Nissan would want their VDC to automatically disable/malfunction if someone was running a spare on the rear.

Running non stagger allows for tire rotation which is a big plus.

Note that this is my experience and actual resutls for others may vary.

Yeah, my dad owns Public Tire at Lawrence and Dufferin. Give him a call 416-787-1475, his name is Paul. Tell him you know me (Marta) from the Z club, he'll give you a deal.

I spent last winter on black 16 steelies, worked fine, car handled suprisingly great... although this year i'm thinking of "investing" in something a little bit prettier
Winter ugliness aside, i still want my car to look decent. The steelies were a great quicky fix since I got the car in winter.

Just curious on this, I'm planning on putting the car away for the winter, but do they hook up alright with a good set of snows?
And does anyone else put there Z away for the winter? Just figured the better way to go was with a second vehicle.
