Default Do yourself a favor and switch to Mobil 1

I've had my car for over 8 months now but have just over 3800 miles. Time to change the oil. Since I live in an apt. complex and don't have access to ramps I decided to go to Wal Mart and have them do it for me. I was kinda on the fence about going Mobil 1 for my first oil change but now that I have I can tell a noticible improvement in how the car drives and idles. Everything feels smoother and more refined. Only cost $34 too.

Yep Mobil-1 all the way. My next change, I am adding the Mobil-1 Filter. Don't skimp on the filter!

My Mobil-1 oil change runs me $15.80 and takes about 30 minutes of my time,

I do it myself and found a sale on these, so I bought 18 quarts at $3.20 a quart.

i was running redline synthetic, but i just went to mobil-1 on a recommendation of a co-worker. there is a noticeably smoother idle now. otherwise, i dont really feel much difference.

i will get mobile-1 again on my next oil change.

Just because you don't have ramps, you can still do it yourself. My Z doesn't fit on ramps, just get jackstands, lift the front up, and go at it....it's super easy as the filter/oil pan are right there once you take that plastic underpanel diffuser off.

Just did mine today with Mobil 1 synthetic and M1-110 filter. I thought I was just imagine things when the car ran smoother. Maybe it does make a difference??

^ the m1-110 fits? i thought it would be to big i use the 105.... and that seems just about as big as you could go... since the gasket is just about the same size...

Shouldn't the car be level when doing an oil change?

Actually it is level when you have it on jack stands or ramps

N/M. The way I read it, it sounded like he just jacked up the front of the car only to do the oil change.

I only jack up the front of the car as well, but jack stands on each side, thus its level.

I decided to go to Wal Mart and have them do it for me.
Please be careful. Remember they pay minimum wage. My sister had her oil changed there and they didn't put the filler cap back on. She drove 12 miles home like that. It blew oil all over and melted every rubber hose or seal in the engine compartment.

Yeppers. 4000 miles and I gots me Mobil 1.

Try to stay away from oil additives that promise magical results. They're practically useless.

Mobile 1 at 6700 miles. Did it myself. And I also noticed a difference. Idles smoother and revs easier I think.

I use mobil 1 too but was wondering if it would be all right to use the mobil 1 performance grade they make. I think it is a real high weight. I used it a couple of times on my turbo civic before I got rid of it, and it seemed to work alright. It says on the bottle it is made for performance cars that use turbo or superchargers. But you could also use it with any car that is a performance car. THanks

Don't use another filter than the Nissan filter. I was talking to the Nissan guys when I first got my car about changing to synthetic. They told me that mobil 1 synthetic was the best for the Z. Then I asked them about what oil filter. They said to stay with the nissan oem because it is specially designed for the Z, and that any other filter may not do as good of a job and may harm the motor in the long run.

I wouldn't use 15W/50 M1 on a newer engine. Clearances are still really tight and thicker oils dont pump up to where its needed most quickly enough upon startup. Stay with the 5W/30 year round, unless you live in the SW (100F + summer temps.), then switch to 10W/30 in the summer.

Quick question on the mobil 1 oil filters. what cars are the 110 and the 105 for. 108 is the one they make for the 350. was just curious what cars the others were for.

Thanks
