lightweight rims help out tons. Like some forged volks, gram lights, nismo, etc...

Also, lightweight exhaust systems can make a huge difference as well. The stock exhaust is really heavy. Going with a full titanium exhaust will really help, I had the JIC single muffler system and noticed the difference greatly. Also changing out the stock cats to high flows or test pipes reduces weight there, the stock cats are very heavy too. I also have racing seats in my car, which are cobra imola GTs, and with all the hardware and brackets, they weigh considerably less than my stock seats. Gutting out the car, of it's panels, or plastic covers don't do much for this car, unless you remove ALL of it. And in that case, it's not a pretty site, and not a quite drive.

CF hoods only weigh a few pounds less than stock if that, so there's not much reduction there.

Oh and if you are built like me, the best way to put the car on a diet, is to put yourself on a diet hehehe, cus I know i don't help the weight reduction in my car one bit hehe

Oh yeah, i forgot the most obvious, the spare! That helps too. Also all the tools in the back can get thrown out for weight. CF hatch with lexan window would work wonders too. And lightweight flywheel and clutch makes a HUGE difference in the way the engine responds, so that's a major TO-DO for weight reduction.

I know this will sound kinda rediculous but, never completely fill the gas tank unless you need it. A gallon of gas is heavy.

if you don't want to replace your hatch, you can just take out the counterbalance weights

true, but every pound counts if you're really looking to lose weight, but don't have the $$$ to pick up a carbon fiber hatch

Take the doors and hatch off and put some netting up. Big bonus there.

Haha I didn't think about the gas thing. removig your washer fluid reservoid is a good way to go. You can always remove the actal latchs for the hatch and hood, and just pins or locks for it, that will shave off some weight.

The carbon fiber body kits don't really shave off that much, if any weight from the car, the stock urethane is not that heavy. I have not weighed the two to really compare, but usually the carbon body kits in the USA are just wet replicas designed for looks and not performance.

Still looks nice though.....

i know it's for volvos, but you may want to take a peek at www.ovlov.net to see what that guy took off his car to remove a good 400 pounds of weight

i took 500 of my volvo, but i went all out and stripped the interior (no dash!) too

i'm going to keep the Z comfy for now

if youre trying to lighten the Z, i suggest only lighten the front/interior, anything else will mess up the weight distrobution!

Kinetix plenum saves 6.5 pounds over stock, cats will save you about 5 pounds each, pullies are rotational weight-and thus will do great, carbon fiber front end: dunno really, urathane is supposed to be heavier thatn CF, but if you really want body stuff that will lighten, then fenders are a must!

there, read and enjoy!

Biggest weight reduction you can do is in one part...

Flywheel and Clutch...

Put in a tilton flywheel and clutch it is like removing 400lbs of mass on the car...

Next would be the 350Evo Final Drive Gear... Larger Ratchet makes it easier to turn something... Larger gear makes it easier for power to get to the rear wheels (engine works less)...

Do those to mods it is like a 700lbs weight reduction...

Sprung weight (Wheels / Tires) will help acceleration performance as well as Suspension performance...

Removing tons of weight from the back (spare etc) can result in the rear end being loosey goosey in the corners... Try to loose weight on the front of the car more then the rear its light enough there...

CF Hoods... OEM hood is 14lbs... CF Hoods can weight more... most weight about the same... The Fuzion hood with plastic scoop cover removed weights about half a pound less then stock...

Racing Seats will lower weight of the car... If you can get your seats lower then you will be placing weight of the car closer to the ground making the center of gravity lower resulting in better cornering...

Long story short... Bigest weight droppers dont drop much physical weight but more remove resistance on the motor / drive train to increase overall performance...

TILTON FLWHEEL's and Clutches

350EVO 3.917 Final Drive Gear

For those in Automatics...

NISSAN 3.5 Final Drive Gear

Nice advertisement!

I'll be getting my flywheel soon...that has to be the best way to go.

Already got the light wheels and removed the cats/exhaust.

those replica kits are all fiberglass underneath and don't weight more the a few lbs. less then stock if any

if you bought 19" volks (like most people on the board) you most likely are hurting acceleration

the single outlet HKS will save weight, but i've heard the single outlet will hurt performance unless your boosted

don't mean to sound negative, but is just a heads up in case you didn't know
