Default UR Pulleys & Harmonic Balancers-i know i know..

UR Pulleys & Harmonic Balancers ....I know, I searched and read all the posts. but, there isn't a YES! or NO! on it. it's bunch of people having their own opinions.

are UR PULLEYS GOOD OR NOT GOOD for OUR cars???????????????? FOR 350z ENGINES! NOT other cars.

that's the only question. Nothing more! so, lets not get off topic like those other crazy ones about this issue!

thanks and happy new year you all!
John.

The original thread on this subject is as close to the truth as you are going to get. Several valid points are presented in that thread regarding harmonic damping (balancing is different and is not an issue with the VQ).

this is what i've been researching as well...the threads got too long and i got tired of reading arguments going back and forth....
seems like, though, that ppl who have them, like them and have no problems with them...myself, i think i'll get it eventually but i'll hold off on it for now while i do other mods. maybe some problems may come up with them later, who knows

From what i have read, i know that our engine is internally balanced, and not dependent on a crank pulley that is harmonically balanced. This is a very popular mod, and not one case has enough merit in my opinion where something went wrong and it was because of the pulley. There was one mechanic that blamed a crank pulley, and i dont remember why, but he said it was the crank pulley and some got scared. With some many differnt cars using this same method, not to mention so many of these mods being done to 350zs, i wouldnt be worried about this mod. I am doing this mod myself friday because all i hear is essentially positive reviews.

Bottom Line:

There's no evidence of it materially "harming" our engine. I've owned vehicles that utilized the pulley as a balancing component, but our engine doesn't to my knowledge. I used one on my Z for over a year with no problems. I removed it from my FI application since I threw a misfire code (common among pullies), but it turned out that several Greddy owners throw the same code and I do too . . . even without the pulley.

It's an inexpensive mod . . . go for it

IT WILL NOT HURT ANYTHING BUT YOUR POCKET BOOK. THERE, I GAVE YOU YOUR ANSWER NOW GO HAVE ONE INSTALLED BY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING.

AND IT'S ONE OF THE BEST MODS YOU'LL DO FOR BOTTOM END. IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE AS WELL AS A LIGHT WEIGHT FLYWHEEL. SERIOUSLY DO THESE MODS YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

why do some people only get the crank pully, while others get the whole set?

It's the crank pulley that increases your performance (light weight and under drive), whereas the other pullies are for "show."

if anyting the UR pulley is better then the stock cast iron pully. Cast pieces are not perfectly ballanced while the cnc'ed forged aluminum pully from UR is more ballanced...

No harmonic ballancer on the Z...

People just get the crank becuase the other pullies are smaller and DO underdrive the accessories (a/c / alternator). There are people that believe it puts unnecessary strain on those parts when not spun at the correct speed therefore having to work harder than before.
