Default My Z is suddenly over slipping at high RPMs

I have about 6K miles on my Track Z and I have only just started doing few heavy accelerations starting from 0kmh and redlining before changing gears. When I do it with VDC turned off my Z amazingly stays in straight line and has an incredible ground control and acceleration 100% straight line even if tires give little spinning sound.

But suddenly, something has gone wrong

now when I try to do the same acceleration my Z starts to over slip and can no longer hold straight line acceleration like it use to. I don’t understand y its slipping even though it never use to do this.

Can somebody please shed some light as to y this suddenly came up? I only have one mod which is Greddy Exhaust EVO2 system and I have been using this exhaust since I purchased my Z so I know this problem is not from exhaust.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!

might me the temp outside is colder

might be your tires

might be your ecu has adjusted to you wanting more power and is giving it to you and it might be too much for your tires

might be all of the above?

Hi

The weather here is clear and sunny and usually 25 degrees in day time and around 20 degrees at night during winter

I think this is just my ECU adjusting to me wanting more power and my stock tires can't handle it. looks like wheel and tire upgrade coming up!

ok, so 70 degree F temps shouldn't cause your bad traction...

does the "SLIP" light under your speedometer flicker when you're accelerating hard?

have you checked your tire tread? are they severely worn?

the stock tires (even the tracks) are pretty shitty -- might want to keep the track rays rims and upgrade the rubber to Potenza S03's or Bridgestone KDW-2's (i'm putting 295/265's on my 10.5"/9" rims i'm buying)

also, if your ECU is adjusting to your driving style, you'll know -- if your car has been under prolonged "hard acceleration" use, look at your tailpipes... there will be black residue on the bottom side of the pipes... that means your ECU is pumping more fuel into your mix, and the increase in unburned hydrocarbons are ending up on your tailpipes.

hope this helps!

The slip light will not light cause VDC is off. if its on it will always light up at hard acceleration and cut of my engine which sucks

the tires look fine to me.. i dont really abuse the car or do donuts and stuff.. i have only 6k miles on it and had it for almost half a year.

there is one other odd thing that has happened though i am not certian of it until i do some more runs.. but i feel that i lost some power on the highways when i am floorin it at 3rd going to 4th and 4th to 5th gear.. just have a gut feeling that it use to go faster before!

i need to change my oil agian and use mobil 1 synthetic now that i have reached 6k miles.. thats first thing to do anyways.

Maybe you got used to the HP level that you have and need to upgrade to……………… let say a “Twin Turbo”

Default Clutch?

Are the tires actually slipping, or does it just feel like the power isn't being transferred to the wheels? Sounds to me like you could be due for a new clutch...but I am no expert.

have you made any modifications to the Z?

what kind of gas (octane levels) do you have available in SA?

if you can take the Z to a dynometer, that would probably be the best way to impirically see whether you have lost power or not... also make sure you get a good reading on your A/F ratio...

if all else fails, you can "reset" your ECU by following the directions at Technosquare's website. If the problem is something with the ECU that will solve it. If it is simply perceptual, get a 3.917 ratio final drive and a tilton flywheel and clutch and you will never look back

dunno about you, but even when i've got VDC off and my wheels are spinning, the SLIP light will still come on

i think NzZ might be headed in the right direction as to the problem being related to your clutch.

there was a defect in my clutch and it was replaced under warrenty including a new fly wheel at 5K miles.

I think SLIP light does go on when VDC is off and i lose traction.. i dont remember.. i will look carefully tomorow

might need to have a buddy around to confirm that your tires are breaking loose.... easiest way to break them loose is to fully rotate the wheel one direction and dump the clutch at about 3k... not too rough on your drivetrain, but the angle will definately get the rear end to swing around.

paso007,
See you tomorrow then, I will be glad to help I will be there around 8/9 PM or so, and then maybe you can have a run with the new Evo 8

Anyway, if your clutch is slipping then you should notice that the RPM is increasing faster than normal and the car is not gaining any speed, which normally correspond to the increase in RPM, that in addition to an woeful smell of a burning clutch.

In any case if you need a new clutch, don't worry I have a new NISMO clutch and pressure plate that I bought long time ago and never used, you can have it with a discount since I will never use it.

Machupo,
The octane level in SA is currently 93, however, there is some rumors that they (The government controls the available level of octane) are planning to increase it to 98 to be in line with other GCC countries.

And in regards to a dynometer, unfortunately we currently don’t have one, however, a new DynoJet should arrive on the 28th of February

Hey AZ thanks for the info, but i really dont believe this is a clutch problem cause it was just replaced to a new one including a new flywheel at 5K miles.

Today while driving to work I was on 3rd gear about 2K rpm I floored the gas and the car started accelerating normally until 4-4.5K rpm and i started to loose traction and speed.. at 4-4.5K rpm!! that sucks!! it never use to do this to me unless on high rpm!

there is something wrong now I am certian of it and its freaking me out!! I am tired of getting problems with my car I barely getting a chance to enjoy it!!

I will see you today at Big Wheels at 8/9 PM hope we can pin point the problem before I take my Z to the service center for next check up which is very soon.

Maybe your alignment is off. I've noticed that as you driv the Z it tends to increase toe out a freaking lot. I need to get mine pulled back into spec soon cause just from lookin at it you can see a diagonal slant. I would have it professionally aligned and have em check the tires at the same time.
