Will my 350Z run on 93 octane?
I have recently moved to Africa, and would love to bring out my Japanese '93 spec 350Z, unfortunately the only unleaded avaialble is 93 Octane. Will the car run ok? Or do i need a conversion? Any help will be appreciated greatly

Yes, that is the premiun grade available in most parts of the U.S.
Some high altitude States have only 91 octane available as the premium. Your Z will run fine.

Don't some countries measure octane differently than the US? I've seen approximate conversion charts before, so it shouldn't be too hard to make the comparison.
Is compression the same for the Japanese 350z as for the US version?

i think it was a typo, the zeros and nines are pretty close together on the keyboard (not number pad).
the japanese measure their gas in RON (research octane number) versus the US's MON (motor octane number). RON is rated higher than our MON rating system. i don't know the precise conversion but if i remember correctly, the Japanese use 98 and 100 RON which convert to about 91 octane in the states. so anything above that is great for your car, so you have nothing to worry about!

California has crap gas too, it might've been the forerunner of crap gas...hmmm
note to self: when you make a time machine, go back and kill the person who thought 91 octane up...

i.e. Euro 98 Octane is approx USA 93 Octane.
The recomended grade (European rating) for a Euro 350Z is 98RON with an absolute minimun of 91RON permissable but only if a higher grade is not available and the tank should be filled with the recommended grade as soon as possible.
Many European owners run their 350's on 97RON or 95RON.
95RON is the 'standard' Euro grade, but you will get a slight drop in performance and gas milage.
