Default Oil Pressure Problems

im hearing noises from my engine as if theres metal slapping against metal. this only happens when the car is warm. i also noticed that my oil pressure is barely at 15psi when these noises start, and the noise goes away when the pressure reads anything over 25 psi.

any clues on whats going on?
thanks.

I bet it has to do with something in your heads. Maybe bad valves. I hate nitrous. Wears motor out really slowly. How does your car run at WOT notice any performance loss?

the car runs great in any gear and any speed. its just when its in park or at a stand still after that engine has completely warmed up.

i've only used nitrous over 2 summers. i'd say about 5 minutes of pure nitrous use over the last 2 years. nitrous cant be it.

I get that noise, but it comes from the tranny (clutch rattle).

I know exactly what you are talking about, I have the same noise and I have oil consumption problems, it gets louder the lower my oil pressure is. Its noticeably different than clutch chatter. Have you checked your oil level?

what weight oil do you have in there? What brand oil is it? and does the car do this when it is warm or cold or both?

If you have a cheap oil in there it could be loosing its viscosity when it gets warm hense wont hold pressure very well.

might be timing chain slap. The tensioner is hydrolic and runs off of oil pressure.

i've been running mobil 1 synthetic for over a year now. i just switched back to the non synthetic since its thicker and im still having problems. this only happens when the car is warm. the noise gets louder and louder the warmer the engine gets. its around the same time oil presure hits about 15psi.

how am i supposed to check the oil without changing it? using our ghetto dipstick? i dont think ill get an accurate reading. getting very annoying.

and y dont i get emails when someone posts on this thread? thats annoying too.

Have you tried draining it into a container and measuring the amount left? Could be serious oil consumption. I use Royal Purple 5W-30 and a Purolator PURE One filter and have noticed my oil pressure is much more stable especially on start up. I used to run Mobil 1 with a Nissan filter and the pressure was too high on startup and after awhile would lower to normal.
